Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What's everyone reading aloud?

We just finished the last of The Charlotte Years .    We finished Road to Roxberry a couple weeks ago and then just launched right into Across the Puddingstone Dam...which we finished tonight after dinner.... I had a hard time holdin' it together in several spots for this last book....and the girls got a bit teary-eyed a couple times. These are SUCH good books!!!   Every girl should be exposed to Charlotte Tucker!!!!

Everyone is VERY sad to say good-bye to Charlotte and her family...we all wish there were more! I have to say I LOVE Martha Morse-Tucker.....she's my new "idol." I relate to her more than Caroline Ingalls, although I "love" MA too!   Didn't we talk about this somewhere?

Some of our Iditarod Reads:
**Balto and the Great Race
**Silver by Gloria Whelan
**Stone Fox. This is SUCH a GREAT read aloud! Loved, Loved, Loved it!!!   I remember this from the Manly-read-alouds thread, and we read it to get ready for The Iditarod. If you haven't read this....RUN, don't walk, to get this book!!!!

Other misc from Feb:
**Chocolate Fever
**Chocolate Touch
**Ramona's World
**Moon of the Owls, Jean Craighead George

Oh yeah Stone Fox is great!

I was just comtemplating what we'd start.. We finished The Tale of Despereaux last.

The kids lately watched Lassie and really liked it and I recalled that I have Buff: A Collie and Other Dog Stories by Albert Payson Terhune and I think they'd really like those.

We are reading, but haven't finished, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh. We have so much reading on our plate with Lent that this is slow going comparatively for us. We did just finish Peter Pan. Our audio book(s) while driving are the My Father's Dragon three book series.

We finished The Hobbit and are now into The Fellowship of the Ring with the goal of reading the entire trilogy and, perhaps, The Silmarillion.

For background, I'm reading a book about Tolkien and C.S. Lewis - very interesting!

Kids are really loving The Tale of Desperaux. They always beg for more chapters.

Also, every Sunday after our Rosary, dh reads from Karen Santorum's Everyday Graces. They want more of that, too.
