Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Adding the latest Good Dog Carl book - Carl's Snowy Afternoon - very reminiscent of the first one and the fun adventure the dog and toddler have together without the parents knowledge, but this time on a snowy afternoon. Lots of great snow fun and scenes.

Good for all you snowbound, Easterners.

Some mentioned in a different snow thread that is linked - but this will keep the titles here.

I just love Berta and Elmer Hader's The Big Snow! We just read it (again) this afternoon!

There may be some duplicates that have already been mentioned here, but mater et magistra's free fall issue has a number of wonderful winter books with reviews!

I just discovered a new gem for our winter collection.

It's called Snow Moon and it is a lovely, lovely book. The illustrations are beautiful... the story is very simple but poetic... and if read in a slow, solemn way... magical indeed.

Highly recommended.

We're still discovering winter and snow books. We had a real belly laugh at this book:

Waiting for Winter by Sebastian Meschenmoser.

Just charming! Squirrel has never seen snow, so tries to stay awake. Hedgehog wakes up, tries to stay away, then wakes up Bear. All three start looking for the white, cold, wet, and soft snow. The things they "think" are snow are just hilarious...and don't miss the last picture at the end of the book.

I am having fun entering picture books into my lists on my library catalog for the upcoming year, and I happened to remember a book we loved a while back with snow, Henry the Explorer

At the time, I was so disappointed that it was out of print and very expensive to buy used, but I just checked, and lo and behold, the 45th anniversary edition was released last month! Very, very delightful. Apparently, Henry the Castaway was released as well, which we have not read, but I think I'll be grabbing these for Christmas!

Fishing for Methuselah

Not MY favorite, but my boys like it, and there is lots of snow and ice.

Have discovered that the publisher of this reprint is a company working to reprint OOP classics. Very cool- some fun favorites there.

Jill started Purple House Press in the year 2000, previously she had specialized in finding sought after, but hard to find used children's books. When prices of her favorite childhood book, Mr. Pine's Purple House, rose to the discouraging price of $300, she decided to do something about it by republishing the book to ensure its message would not be lost to future generations.

AWESOME! I had totally forgotten about them, but I remember really enjoying those Mr. Pine books! Especially Mr. Pine's Mixed Up Signs.

What a treasure! Ah, nostalgia.

Just picked this up from the library at your recommendation. Great book. I love the pencil drawings - what a talented artist!! Cute story.

We just found a winter science book that the kids loved callled The Story of Snow. The books described the science behind snow crystals and had beautiful photographs of snow crystals in all different shapes.

It's a new favorite.
