I can't dig up any old threads about groundhogs, which is surprising... since I thought I posted some last year. Anyway...
Go to Sleep, Groundhog!
I love the pictures in this book- about a groundhog who stays up for the holidays throughout the year.

Substitute Groundhog
Another cute one... groundhog is sick and auditions other animals to take his place. It's a fun look at the strengths and weaknesses of each animal.
And you'll never guess who gets the job....
groundhog, flu, animals, weather, spring

Gregory's Shadow by Don Freeman of Corduroy fame tells the tale of a groundhog who loses his shadow, but finds it just in time for Groundhog's Day!

Yes, we read this one regularly, mainly because of the name!

I meant to post this earlier, but forgot. Better late than never, right?
We just discovered The Secret of the First One Up by Iris Hiskey Arno at the library this year and thought it was a very sweet Groundhog Day story. Cute illustrations too!

The Big Snow by Berta and Elmer Hader would be a great addition for Groundhog Day.
What a great book! The ending has the groundhog coming up on February 2 and seeing his shadow.

This is off-season, but we were going through some of Crocket Johnson's books and found Will Spring Be Early? or Will Spring Be Late? written and illustrated by Crockett Johnson.

The topic caught my interest, and I found this book, Punxsutawney Phil and His Weather Wisdom.
I haven't read it, but it sounds really good. Just thought I'd add it to this thread in case anyone's looking for more ideas.
For anyone near western Pennsylvania, I'd also recommend visiting Punxsutawney Phil at his library home (at least that's where he was a few years ago).

How Can A Groundhog Predict The End Of Winter?
And adding some books:
A Garden for a Groundhog (Lorna Balian)
Brownie Groundhog and the February Fox (Susan Blackaby)
