Vanna started the ball rolling in July asking if anyone would join her to lose weight.

August starts a new kick off --

A 31 Day Challenge to take the steps to improve your health, however you choose, through exercise, eating better, or both.

All you have to do to start is share what you plan to do this month and come back to let us know how your day went.

Even though we hike the trails around the local parks, the scale has stopped going down. Now, I have to cut out the good...oh, I mean bad stuff (Pepsi) and move more. I don't expect to lose more than maaaybe 5lbs, but I'll be a bit healthier at the end of the month.

My goals for August....
-give up Pepsi
-walk each day
-50 situps/crunches
(it's been years..there must be a easier way to decrease my stomach! )

205/180/149

Anyone else?

Thanks for the motivation, Michaela!
I need to lose 32 lbs. I also need to build up my strength and flexibility. The weight bugs me, but the stiffness and weakness are so limiting!

So, my goals:
At least a 10-minute workout each day (I have a DVD)
At least 1 trip to the mailbox (one fifth of a mile)
Start weight training with my oldest
and the hardest,
Cut down to one bag of Gummi Bears a week!

My current weight is 167 (size 14). I want to get back down to 135 (size 10!).

I am so reluctantly joining in....

But, there's no way to deny the fact that at 5 months postpartum, weight loss has stalled and I hate the way I look! I don't know if it's my new thyroid issues or age or accumulated weight gain from the pregancies or all of the above, but I just can't get the last 10 pounds off. I'm only looking to be at a healthier weight for my body type - and rid myself of the flab around the middle...

My goals:
Give up Pepsi 6 days a week
Give up sweets and deserts 6 days a week
Drink more water throughout the day
Walk a mile 3-4 days a week
Sit-ups or crunches 3-4 days a week
Push-ups 3-4 days a week

I'm allowing myself a binge...um...I mean feast on Sundays!

140 starting weight. Goal weight between 125 and 130.

I'm posting before I change my mind.

Edited to say that I don't expect to lose all the weight this month!!! 5 pounds would probably be too much to expect, but it would be a great start!

Oh NO! Is today the 1st!?!?!?

Geeze. I just posted my goals while eating an ice cream sandwich. I was thinking tomorrow was the 1st of the month. Sigh. I will eat no MORE junk in the month of August...

Okay Vanna is cracking me up!

I think Molly and I are the exact same person...same weight, size and goal!

I am 1 month postpartum...that'll be my excuse for not starting running...yet. But I need to do something...I ate so well (for me!) while pregnant, that since giving birth, I've been diving into everything junk!

I will walk at least 4 times per week
I will get back to drinking ALL of that water
Add more veggies, ie salad, to my daily food menus
and once I've had that 6 week check up (on 8/18)
back to jogging 3 times per week
And I'll try to add those situps...hopefully I won't pee my pants every time I actually manage to sit up tell me I'm not the only one that this happens too...it's a baby thing right??? Maybe I need to stick to crunches!

Oh and Sundays will be the day of rest with some soda and our ritual doughnut after Mass!

I am 37 weeks pregnant and, especially having a higher chance than most of having a c-section, I can't exactly make daily goals for the whole month.

I want to continue aiming for a minimum 30-minute walk per day till the baby is born, when weather and other circumstances allow. Preferably longer than 30 minutes. I also like lately to go to the nature park where I feel like I get more exercise than on the sidewalk, and where it's shady and cooler.

I am pretty happy with my eating habits of late and looking forward to losing weight after pregnancy. I'll probably be right around pre-pregnancy weight practically instantly after birth, and I may start with a mini-goal, but my ultimate goal will probably be between about 60 to 80 pounds lost off my pre-pregnancy weight. It's been so long since I weighed in that range that it's hard to say what's most desirable and also realistic.

Yeah, but Kacky, I am SEVEN months postpartum! We won't even talk about my weight at one month postpartum.

What really got to me was that I gained two pounds last month. Now, I know we women can fluctuate from day to day, but that was a depressing sight. I am not so sure having a scale in the house is a good idea.

So, Vanna, what time of morning was it when you were eating an ice cream sandwich? I can usually hold out until noon!

I recently found out that a friend of mine tends to have handfuls of chocolate chips for breakfast. At least you had dairy going on too Vanna!

This comes at a good time. I just started back on WW two days ago and I have lost 1 lb already. I'm also 7 months postpartum and I don't think I've lost much since I came home from the hospital. And recently started to gain !   I need to lose about 20-24 lbs. I'm currently 184, which makes me a size 14, and would love to be 160, which would be a size 10. This is the heaviest I've ever been other than pregnant. Ihave to lose this because I'm afraid of what would happen if I became pregnant again at this weight.

So this month I will continue on weight watchers and exercise at leat 3 X a week. Hopefully I can lose about 10 pounds this month.

I'm in for the new start-up! I need to lose 20 lbs. My plan is to walk daily for 30 minutes and do free weights to tone my upper arms. (Can anyone say bat-wings?) Also, ditch diet soda and try to eat more healthfully and in smaller portions than my present bad habits.

Peace,
Nancy

I want to lose the last 15 pounds of baby weight from my last. Okay, ladies, I'm way past your postpartum months (my baby is 3 years old ).

My goals:

go indoor rock climbing at least once a week (more if the kids are for it)
drink more water
drink less Starbucks (one max)
exercise at least 4 times a week with it being either Pilates or walking

Thanks for the challenge!

Good idea, Michaela!

We're on week 8 out of 12 of our Light Weigh session, and I've got about 15 pounds to go. This month I'm really trying NOT to eat while I'm preparing meals....this has always been such a hard habit to break.

And, I need to get back into doing my sit-ups and stretchs at night.

Wow! It's great to see so many of you have joined in!

Completed my daily goal.

oh my! I need to remember to breath during the situps.

Adding to my goal...from 50 to 100 situps a day.
By the end of the month I will have completed over 3,000 situps! I wouldn't have even finished the 50 if I didn't have to be accountable to all of you!

Thank you!
