What nice/happy/fun thing happened at your house today?
We've had a series of trials and tribulations lately. (Nothing serious.) Today was sort of a down day so I wanted to think about the good things that happened.
Our best was the children dancing and singing on the front lawn in the rain.
Tell me something good from your house today!

Dinner is almost ready, I'm feeling a bit sane about packing, all the errands I planned to do worked out and I made it in time for Confession.
Confession was the biggest highlight of the day. The next highlight will be Daddy coming home.

Oh, and the trip to Trader Joe's -- we found the monkey so a special Fruit Leather, and then the balloon that always brings a smile.

Bridget,
It's surreal that you asked this question. I've been feeling totally in the dumps since I got home. Overwhelmed seems more like it. I don't know where to start or what to do next. So I just sit and think and mull about everyone's problems beyond mine.
It's been raining here as well but I haven't looked at it through your eyes. I really, generally, like rainy weather because it's a nice, cozy excuse to stay home and snuggle in with the books and keep all the children home.
Today I've looked at it as gloomy and yucky.
If anyone of you were to see my living room, you would gasp in horror.
Plus, spending time at the hospital is never a happy thing...unless it's for a new baby.
What good thing happened today? Well, my b-i-l (the uncle who does for everyone else and is always there when you need him) came through open heart/triple bypass surgery.
Perhaps there's light at the end of the tunnel.

My 13 yo dd is making a blueberry pie all by herself.
We read "The Happy Little Family" series during a dreary day that threatened rain all day. The children practiced drawing while they listened.
My almost 2 yo has been cuddling with her big brother as she missed him while he was gone today.
My husband was "late" to work today. He missed a major accident that occured close to his normal arrival time.

My oldest son is coming to Sydney for the weekend!
I have had fun connecting with friends via blogging.
I lost one pound.
I actually cooked a dinner that ( almost) everyone ate.
Other mums and I had a good laugh about our dc and their personalities over lunch at group learning.
Alexander ( ds) and I shared laughs over a P.G. Wodehouse book.

I'm so happy for your b-i-l's surgery to turn out well, but I understand that feeling of total drain visiting hospitals.
Wish the rainy days were here...I love them, too. But sometimes when things are hard, the rain reflects our moody side. Hugs to you, Cay.

Going grocery shopping with my five well-behaved little ones and a belly that is definitely showing that I am pregnant and not receiving a single negative comment from anyone. In fact, I got a lot of friendly smiles.
Seeing my oldest sister briefly this afternoon and being graciously and wholeheartedly thanked for something that I have been busy doing for my dad and my siblings.

Having a friend from our home schooling group come over and sharing about Kolbe Academy with her. She is going to enroll her 2 oldest in Kolbe Academy this year. Also having Maggie's Godmother and her 2 sons stop by for a very brief hello.

Last night, my ds, Joe Max, was up with a fever and throwing up. He ended up in bed with us and I ended up in Sophia's bed who ended up on the floor next to my bed.
In the morning, as I struggled to open the tired eyes, I heard, "Where's mom?"
Then Sophia said, "Oh, she's in my bed..." to which Isabella replied, "Oh, she's getting skinny. I thought that was you!"

My sweet friend watched all 5 of my munchkins so I could go to a doctor's appt today. She ended up keeping my 3 oldest all afternoon so I could get some rest while the younger two napped.
...also...watching my almost 13 yr old put my 15 mo old on his shoulders and play with him as only a "big brother" can. Too too cute!

Taking my 6 month old to his well-baby visit and the doctor saying at the end, "He's just so sweet, I need to hold him for a minute." And, "Your other three are SO well-behaved!!"
That kept me going the rest of the day!

-I deep cleaned the bathroom.
- I got laundry done, folded AND put away.
- After I told Nicolas ( my 4yo boy) that I love him with all my heart, he said "wouldn't it be funny if when you kiss me your heart would come out?"
- We had tacos for dinner and I discover that I like guacamole.
-We had good dinner conversation.

Oh, I can't help myself...my three olders are with my mom for the week so it's just the 4 and 2 year olds...last night, while I was at a class studying Character Building, Daddy and the other two went to the fair. After they picked me up and the 2yo went to sleep, I sat in the clear back of the suburban with 4yo ds and when jazzy songs came on the radio we danced with our arms up in the air and wiggled in our seats as much as seat belts would allow. We giggled and snuggled all the hour ride home. What a sweet memory for mommy !
God bless,
Angela

Angela,
If (and when ) you have time, could you open a new post on Character Building and share what you learned in the class?
I'm interested.
