Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Is anyone familiar with the Diane Stanley picture book of Joan of Arc? I want to include her in our studies next year, and I think I want to get the graphic novel since it will likely appeal strongly to my boys, but Ambleside and a few other places recommend the Stsnley version, and it does look nice. There are positive Catholic reviews on Amazon, but since no one seems to have mentioned it here on the boards, I wonder how it could have been missed if it is so good!

It's mentioned in passing in several threads, but you are correct, there is no review. We had this and two other picture books on St. Joan. They were so beautiful, but we never read them because they were so long. And because my library had them, I purged our copies.

But that isn't helpful, is it?

It is. I am thinking if assigning it to my 10 year old rather than a read aloud. I think, though, it is pribably just the prettiness appealing to me whereas my son would likely prefer the graphic novel version.
