Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm interested but I won't be able to get the book for awhile. I'm curious what the book says regarding Routines and Schedules in those two chapters. Just a concise abreviated version to the wise.

I'm definitely in, too. I've had the book for a few weeks, but haven't had much time to get to it. However, even just the first two chapters have helped me to think differently about some of the things we do. One thing that has hit me like a brick (and it may seem so obvious to all of you) was the harm that having the news on so much does to the children--to burden them with so much adult thought and responsibility. It's really just a habit. FoxNews is our background noise in the am and pm while Daddy's home. We don't think they're listening, but then they (especially super serious ds11) ask me about it later. I've always thought, "Wow, how mature of him to discuss this with me." But I realize now he may actually be troubled by it. With this realization, it makes me want to hurry through the book and overhaul our habits and house overnight, but I know that's not wise, permanent change and would love to go a little slower with support here.

Yes, I love the idea of going chapter by chapter and giving each chapter its own thread. Thank you so much for this thread!!

Merry Christmas!

I'm interested! I have to see if my library can get it for me, and how long that takes.

I would at least like to follow along with the discussion with you ladies. I have the book on hold, but I'm 3rd in line, so I'm not sure when I"ll get it. (are there other 4Real ladies checking books out from Knox. Co library in TN?? LOL!!)

I also just finished the book Not So Fast: Slow Down Solutions for Frenzied Families by Ann Kroeker. It is SO GOOD ya'll!! I highly, highly recommend this book if you haven't read it yet!! AWESOME!! :)

I'm interested in the discussion (and the book, I ordered it) as it sounds like just what I've been trying to do more of lately --simplify.

My copy just came. I'm going to read it through once before we start discussing chapter-by-chapter, I think. I've only read the introduction and the first chapter so far-- and I can tell this one is going to be good!

I'll be following this thread with interest, simplicity is my word for 2010. Hoping my library will have it.

I really didn't think my library would have this book but...wonder of wonders ...my library has it .

When will we begin? I can recheck the book twice so I can keep the book up to 6 weeks total as long as no one else requests it.

Cay, if I'm going to start the discussion, we can start January 7th or 8th. As I mentioned above, if someone else wants to begin earlier, that's just fine, too.

Same here. I hope to have it in the next week or so and will just play catch-up as needed.

Placed a library hold! It's hard to say how long it will take - I'm 3rd, but the library system owns 8 or 10 copies. I'll be very interested in following this discussion - the review of this book sound like it has lots of food for thought (and for personal reform )

Peace,
Nancy

I was searching for my word this year obviously I was real good at remembering it and came across A Year in Simplicity back in 2007. Thought you might find it interesting.
