Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have a nice coloring picture of the Annunciation, which is today!

We love this feast and go "whole hog" to celebrate ... but I can't find a lovely picture for making a plaque. Any advice?

I am hoping to attach one but if this doesn't work then go to my post below and right click on the coloring picture at the end of the post. Have a good day.

We made a creative mobile from our Annunciation colour-in pictures, using swallows.

Oh, Anne, that is a gorgeous idea! I'll have to file that one for next year ... what a great use of the ceiling fan too

There's a picture of the Annunciation to color in the Rosary Coloring pages in my sidebar.I enjoyed tracking down traditions of this day. I particularly loved seeing the link between St. Joseph's Day and Annunciation with the swallows. So cool!

I also like the idea of the role of seeds, which I mentioned in my Catholic Cuisine post. Farmers used to put an image of the Annunciation in their seed bags, praying to Our Lady to bless their plantings.

But the seed was planted in Mary's womb at the moment of her FIAT. What beautiful imagery, and a great day to plant a few seeds. Would it be too early to plant the homemade Easter Grass?

Another thing I've been thinking is the name change of the feast. "Annunciation of Our Lady" was the former title, and it's been changed to "Annunciation of Our Lord". The latter makes more sense to me.

Yes, grammatically it should be "Annuncation to Our Lady" -- I think that's why when I was little I used to think it was when Sts. Anne and Joachim found out about Mary! (remember I had early post-Vatican 2 Catholic school catechism )

BTW, that link I provided in my blog post for for a bird Mobile is really awesome. There's a non-colored version that you could make your own, but ds is just loving our new color printer with the gorgeous swallows. I have enough time to have them suspended over our dinner table tonight.

I loved the information at Catholic Culture about using a dessert that is round and possibly white. Since I am a lousy cook and we had a very busy day - I bought yogurt dipped pretzels at the grocery store and had them for snack. White and round and novel too! The kids loved them and I think I got my point across. Maybe some day I'll aspire to a blueberry pie!

Too late for this year, but while it was on my mind (and in my hands), I uploaded another Annunciation Coloring Page.

So, have to share a bit of religious humor here...When I was a little girl, I attended an Episcopalian school. In the school hung a replica of Fra Angelico's Annunciation. I always loved those rainbow wings! Anyway, when I was told by the teacher the name of the artwork, I thought she said, "The Enunciation"!!! My mother was always admonishing me to ENUNCIATE properly, so I thought Gabriel was telling Mary, "Enunciate! Enunciate!"

Kids....
