Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hello, there.

I'm the moderator/coordinator for our Catholic homeschooling group. Our group is fairly active on our restricted Yahoo board. We're only about 15 moms, but we talk a lot.

Lately, I've felt thinking about getting a Catholic Bible study book and maybe seeing if the moms would like to do an online book study. Like, we could read it on our own, and I'd post the questions for it once a week on the Yahoo board.

Of course I'm going to ask those gals if they like that idea, LOL, but I was wondering if anyone here does that online with their group or something akin to that ...

We'd love to have an actual study at the park, but so many of us are chasing down little ones, and everyone shows up at different times, so that's difficult to swing in person.

Ideas?

We've done something like that before, but we all dislike very much the yahoo group format. It's not conducive to easy conversation. There is a thread somewhere where Lindsay recommended a few options for free "whatever-they're-called" forums more in a format similar to the 4real board. I'll look later and see if i can find it.

I actually started a forum at yuku specifically to have a Bible study like that. We were going to use Courageous Love by Stacy Mitch. The forum was fairly easy to set up and I even put in a chat room that is only open to members.

I know a lot of people are concerned about safety online and not knowing who to trust. At yuku, you can set your forum to be private, open only by invitation, so that it will not show up in search engines.

The only thing is,it didn't really take off. I got three other women to sign up, but everyone kept forgetting to check in and answer questions.

Thanks so much!

I checked out yuku. I liked the format a lot. Actually, I ended up changing our Yahoo group to a forum on Yuku. It's just easier to keep track of discussions this way.

Thanks so much for the tip!
Blessings.
