Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Ladies,

Please pardon my ignorance...I thought that if you just had a scapular blessed by a priest that that was ok? What is "enrollment"? Why is this necessary?

I feel so silly asking...I feel like I should know this!

God Bless,
Maggie

I don't have any links at my fingertips for you, but just from my own experience, it is the person (not the scapular) that is "enrolled" - you make a profession or commitment to what wearing the scapular signifies/means - this is the key. Think of the scapular in its material form as a symbol of your commitment. Your scapular is blessed, but if you lose/break it or for some reason are without it, the promises attached to the scapular stay with you. You can simply buy another scapular to wear. Hope this helps.

Maggie - Wendy is exactly right. The enrollment follows the person, not the scapular.

I remembered this thread on scapulars that we discussed and I think it has some helpful information as well as resources for you to consider, Maggie.

HTH!
