Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Checked out your links too Lindsay, note that the small house is 665sq ft housing 5 people. Before we began extensions, our house was 947sq ft housing 10 people. We managed this for three years. So it can be done.

That small house is inspiring.

And, well, speaking of small things...I just heard that the Disney theme ride "It's a Small World" is also celebrating its 50th birthday this spring, too. Another one for my list - . I know many people are annoyed by that song but that was seriously my favorite ride at Disney the first time we went when I was about 9. So in case anyone wants to take a virtual ride along (and get the song stuck in your head...)

That ride brings back so many joyful memories. It is still my favorite, although I enjoy the faster ones too. It is especially nice at night, with no lines, you can ride again and again without getting out

I got STUCK on that ride when I was in college. I had always loved it (had the LP with the illustrated book), but after 45 minutes of the same song and the same spinning dolls, not so much.

What are you looking for in a khaki skirt Lindsay?.

A-line, flat front/side zipper, below the knee. Same for denim, but with denim, I'd also like it on the darker side in color. I know I am picky.

Have you tried Maxi Skirts? They are nice, as comfortable as wearing pajamas but a lot more dressy!

All this small house talk sent me off on a rabbit trail this morning at the library. I found a couple of books showcasing small houses- fun to look through.

Lindsay-
Lands End is having 30% off everything this weekend- might be worth a look.

I thought it was interesting to say people are not engaging.

From my perspective, people are way, way, WAY over engaging. Everyone is busy.

Hey, Martha, I've thought about what you have shared here and appreciate being challenged to be more clear. Gosh knows I just threw this topic out there one day and I'm thrilled to see it take off! But you are right, the word engagement doesn't quite catch what I was going for exactly.

I'm meaning something more like a reciprocal relationship. So, for example, when I mentioned Little League, I'm thinking about the 99% of the families who will sign up their children, but will not volunteer to help make it run. Their child may be in Little League for years, at yet, they don't give to it beyond the fees that don't even cover their costs. So, I'm not referring to the families who are at home taking care of their business.

And there is a similar dynamic online. If one is going to read, search, and spend time "taking" online, then it seems right to "give" somewhere along the way. Take blogs, for example. If someone is taking the time to read a blog and perhaps even take ideas from it that enhance their life, then it seems right to at least give a like or a quick comment. Again, I'm not talking about the folks who aren't reading blogs.

Reciprocal engagement - I hope that made sense. Part of why our family chooses to live such a full (busy) life is that we really do try to give more than we take. I'm not sure that we actually succeed! But that's the basic premise we're working off of.

And I hope this thread is an easy and fun way to give here .

Love,

Oh, and we're pretty much kicking this game! As of March 28, we're at 9 pages 166 posts and 2034 views

Our visit with Devin (36 weeks pregnant) and Michael in Pullman Washington was FABULOUS! Spokane just may turn into a great meeting place connected to me flying in and out of WA...anyone interested?! You know you are .

And I wrote about easy homemade pizza at my blog. Just in case you are hungry

Happy weekend, friends!

Love,

Anyone active (or want to be) on My Fitness Pal? If so, you'll find me here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/AngieMc6

I checked it out a few years ago and WOW has it improved! And it syncs so well with my iPhone and MacBook. 3 days in and I'm very hopeful!

Love,

For me, the Internet has been very engaging, both virtually and IRL.

Martha, when I searched "My Fitness Pal" here, you showed up as the only one who has mentioned it! Are you engaged online there? What's your take? Would love to see you there

Oh, and in that same post (sorry, closed the link) you mentioned Whole30 and I'll be checking that out ASAP! Thanks for the rec and if you have any updates on that, I would be grateful to hear all about it :)

Happy Saturday everyone!

Love,

How about a slight shift?
I was cleaning my desk in anticipation of my dh backing up the computer so we can update our system....I think we are about five years behind. So...I found this piece of paper I cut out of a bulletin back in January, it corresponds to the reading for that day...it is especially meaningful to me as we walk into a hard medical week.

Protect Yourself From Anxiety

Holocaust survivor and author Corrie ten Boom once commented that being anxious and worried is like “carrying tomorrow’s load with today’s strength--carrying two days at once. Worrying doesn’t empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.” Perhaps this sound philosophy helped her survive the horrific situation in which she found herself under Nazi rule. It also reminds you how anxiety can give way to grateful trust. Take a deep breath and give thanks!

This is balm to my soul....it is hard to keep guard over my thoughts as we walk into a pretty difficult surgery for Lily. I hope this helps you all as it does me.

They say March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb...

Our month started out pretty mild but is definitely improved - very spring like this weekend. How is your March ending?

We had more snow!!!

Dancing Daughter and I were in Manassas for a dance competition yesterday, and it snowed most of the afternoon, then switched over to rain.

My Swedish friends' crocuses are blooming, but mine are not.

Winter storms in Alberta. Our snow in spring is heavy and full and beautiful, just a few more weeks!

Nope, my kids are riding high on a tough win in Lacrosse. Their coach - Coach R is the dad to the other teams's coach, Coach A and both Coach A and his Asst. Coach V came up through the ranks playing for Coach R...

Can you see where this is going? It's about as much like playing a mirror as anything I've seen. It was a tough game.. and really.. by next season it will be even tougher.

But they managed to come out with a 5-2 win.
