Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have been going through old posts, and wow! Some of my old postings are very insightful (not bragging here, just bear with me), and then I think, how did I forget all of this?!    How could I have been so smart and together last year and then fall completely apart? It's like I was a different person when writing those insightful and intelligent posts! I feel like a fraud!

Anybody ever read their old posts and go , did I seriously have that kind of clarity at one time?

You know though. That's ok. I can't tell you how often I need someone to remind me of things that I've posted to other, oh so many times. But it's because if I'm tired, if I'm sick, if I'm in pain, if I just feel overwhelmed.. it makes those things so much harder to remember for myself.

Actually, I've started thinking that this is why we should share our thoughts and encouragement with others when we feel it.. so that they (or our old posts) can reflect that back to us when we need it.

I have re-read emails I wrote during our darkest days last year with the adoption and Peter's near-drowning and I think they are full of clarity and intelligence - it must have been the Holy Spirit writing and I can't seem to duplicate it now that I am considering writing a short book. :)

I think that's why we need each other.

I saw this recently:

A strong marriage rarely has two strong people at the same time. It is a husband and wife who take turns bring strong for each other in the moments when the other feels weak.~Ashley Willis

This was so affirming and helpful for me, because I'm just not always strong and together. I think this must be the same for friends too.

This has given me something to think about. I tend to lurk a lot and not say a word because I feel just the opposite about myself.

I tend to think along the lines of, why did I even say anything? I can't hope to add anything meaningful to this conversation. Everyone else is so much better, smarter, holier(insert your adjective here) than me.

I'm starting to think this may be more of an issue of an ugly pride for me--to worry too much about not meeting my own lofty ideas of how much help I want to give to others.

I have been given so much by this forum and I am so very grateful for lessons I have learned here. In the past I have felt guilty for taking so much and giving so little back. In some ways this has made me feel like a fraud too.

I thank all of the ladies here there who (through the Holy Spirit, no doubt) have shared their wisdom over the years.

Glad you bumped the thread today since I missed it last week somehow. I can really relate. I go back and read things I wrote not only here but other places and think - hmmm..."I wrote that?". I was just back in the liturgical accessories thread and saw that I had several creative ideas that I had forgotten . I guess it is really good that we have this forum where we can record our lucid or creative thoughts when we have them so that we can come back and see them when we forgot them...

Grateful in VA, different people add so much from so many different perspectives and we all give and take as fits us at a particular time. I am always so thankful to hear from others to get that variety. One may never know how something they may have said helped someone else. Comparison is stumbling block for many of us - even those who don't seem like they would, can have those doubts. Don't let that stop you from participating in the conversations. So thank you for being here - as part of the collective wisdom shared and received among these lovely homeschool ladies.
