Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Waving to friends and hope this message encourages you in your endeavors. I need to be brief because I have something different and fun up my sleeve that I'll post next. For now...

I really liked the post I put out at my blog, Family life is difficult and I hope you do too. Since you already know this fact, it won't be news but I do think that just being together in the difficulty helps.

And as friends, I can confide that I rarely like my own blog posts. So for me to like this one is news :) I've given myself until May 2015 to see some fruit from blogging and any feedback you can give me to improve it is much appreciated. I'm trying, in part, to catch the ease with which I can communicate here among friends. To have a combination of content and honest communication. I set up a post to publish later today. Hope that works too :)

I'm trying to tie my online life together a bit more and I'm trying to tie it to my IRL. The idea of a seamless life is very appealing to me. Again, any suggestions welcome.

Soooooo.... is your life difficult right now? What have you learned from life's difficulties? How do you face life's difficulties? Anything you have to share on this topic is greatly appreciated.

Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday so I won't post then but know that I'll be praying for you and your intentions. Have a beautiful week!

Love,

I loved your post. I'm struggling just now, even thinking about an IronMan makes me so tired I want to cry. I'm in that holding pattern, so sick and so tired, days eaking past so slowly.   Each small task leaves me out of breath and tired.   Having to rely on my dc to help more. And even though they are and don't do a bad job, but they aren't always cheerful about it. This makes me feel bad.

My dh is so good at distraction, nurturing and starting over. I'm learning. I'll try to think of something I can do. He is so good at taking a break.

Sweet Rebecca, you have made my day

A hardy congratulations to you and your babies! And oh how I wish we lived near each other so that I could love up your kids (good for me) while doing your laundry (good for you). But for some crazy reason God chose for friends to be scattered...

Sooooo how can a friend lighten another friends load online? You know I'm praying (and I beg your prayers.) Well, how about....

Start humming the song Happy and picture me doing the 80's white girl dance

And know that you are loved

Thanks, Angie, for the post. It was that warm cup of tea I needed to indulge in with a friend. Since oftentimes it is hard to find IRL friends, I am thankful for the sharing and support that happens here!

One thing I am learning is how to combat negative self talk. The way I talk to myself is horrible! I would never say those things to anybody else in a similar situation, so why do I do this to myself?    Anyway, every time an unkind thought rears up I attempt to capture it and speak the truth and pray.

Dear Lara, you are absolutely right about the self-talk. Keep it true and positive. And sometimes we just need to have the lies drummed out by others telling us the truth. So here goes... you are worthy, you are loved, and you are doing important and difficult work. Stay strong, sista!

You got this

Love,

Wow Lara how insightful!! You're right and I'm guilty of the same thing too. I'm far harder on myself than anybody else.

Well Angie, currently I'm finding it hard to keep on top of housework like no motivation or self discipline. It will pass and meanwhile my dh is so tolerant and accepting but really I wouldn't want to come home to our mess everyday.

On a positive note my baby is gorgeous

It's not Wednesday anymore - am I still allowed to chime in?

I haven't had a moment to read your post, Angie, but the topic caught my eye. I have just been processing this in the last few days, so how nice to have an opportunity to process "out loud".

I am challenged right now to really love some of the dear ones around me. Not the warm, fuzzy love - but the nitty, gritty, love until it hurts. I pray every day that the members of my family and I will love one another better. Suddenly the revelation came that to love one another better means being willing to suffer for one another and lay down our lives for one another. Deep down, that's not exactly what I meant!! And God, in His faithfulness, is giving me opportunities to practice right away. I feel surrounded by grumpy, difficult, unlovable people; finances are very tight; tension is high...

Oh, for the grace to *focus* on the beauty of family life, jam-packed with the glory of God! That's what we should be praying for for each other!

I just reread your blog post, Angie- it was even better the second time!

Family life is difficult. And as if loving the neighbors in your own home is not hard enough, the whole world seems to conspire to make it tougher.
If anything is off- timing, the weather, the grocery store being out of baking powder (how does that happen!?), and someone gets grumpy, it all gets harder.

I have relatives who are difficult for a season, and that's fine. It's tough at the moment, but you know the season will pass.

Then I have relatives who are difficult all the time, and that is where I really struggle. It gets tricky- do I have to spend holidays all the time with people who whose beliefs have become very different than mine? Or maybe mine have grown different from theirs.

In any case, we are no longer that good of a fit. We have different values and enjoy different things, but we are family.
I struggle with the notion that friends are allowed to pass in and out of our lives, but if the same happens with extended family members, it is seen as a problem.

Anyway- I can handle the ups and downs of my own little family-at-home much better than I can with my extended family. Of course, that is not to say there aren't the daffodil-and-chocolate moments here, too- there most certainly are! Maybe it is the struggle with extended family that gives me more patience with and appreciation for the ones under my own roof.

Oh, Melinda, you just summed up what I've been struggling with especially over the past couple of years - extended family that's not "a good fit". I've shared with my priest that when I am with one of these relatives I feel that I am in the near occasion of sin. It's a real dilemma.

It is a dilemma, and I don't know the answer.

For myself, as an adult, I can easily turn a blind eye/deaf ear to some of the things we encounter when extended family is around. I don't like it, but I can go hide out in the kitchen or go for a walk or whatever.

Having my kids exposed to some of the behavior is quite a different thing all together.
