I posted about our plans on my blog, but wanted to know what everyone else had in mind. Also wanted to offer two more coloring pages to choose from for her feast day coming up on Friday.
Blessed Teresa 1
Blessed Teresa 2
Our menu (because it is always about the food right ) is Banana Chai Bread, Tandoori Naan served with cheese and fruit, Hummus, Baklava and Chai Tea Lattes. We also plan to listen to the Glory Stories episode about Mother Teresa which I think I love even more than my kids do!
Do you have any special plans?

Charlotte,
I really appreciate that you've shared your plans for Friday. There are a few big things happening here, and I haven't been able to focus. My youngest is named after Mother Teresa so I wanted to do something nice and find a meatless menu.
The only plans I had were to read Mother Teresa by Demi and have my children work on the activities listed in Catholic Mosaic. We may even watch the movie Mother Teresa.

Michaela,
I forgot about that movie. What age range would you say it is appropriate for?
If your kids like hummus, I would try to Easy Hummus recipe from Allrecipes. It doesn't call for any tahini which can be expensive from what I understand. Mine didn't care for it last year but my husband and I really liked it! The naan with cheese cubes and fruit is their favorite "fast food" meal. I say fast food, because we usually stop by our local SuperTarget and pick up the garlic naan, a block of colby jack cheese and whatever fruit we like and take it home for lunch when we have been running errands on Friday. It's a very fast, meatless meal option. They typically keep the naan frozen when it isn't on the shelf, so I like to heat it up on a griddle and serve it warm like tortillas.
Happy name day to your daughter!

Charlotte,
Two words.....YOU ROCK!
I was wondering what we should do for copy work this week and now I know, Mother Teresa quotes. I am hoping I can finally read the book on my bedside table this week, "Come Be My Light."

Mary Chris,
I am pretty sure you have to pour yourself into a swimsuit and herd duckies in public to be consider a Rockin' Mama, but thanks!
I haven't read "Come Be My Light" but "Mother Teresa: In My Own Words" would be a fast read and is very inspirational!

Matilda I agree Come be My Light is a wonderful read, I read it earlier this year, I KNOW she is a far, far greater saint than I ever imagined after reading that..one of the Church's greatest.
I also recommend the latest book out, Mother Teresa: In the Shadow of Our Lady It is written by the Superior of the Missionary of Charity Fathers and it is one of my best reads of the year, a great one to follow up with after Come Be My Light.
We will read Demi's Mother Teresa and do the activities from Catholic Mosaic.
I haven't gone over to them yet Matilda, but thank you for the colouring pictures, they are always wonderful, so lovely to share with us all!
I'd love to treat myself to one of these tea towels (open up the spring catalogue and scroll through the pages, you can't miss it, white with the blue rimmed strip like Mother Teresa's habit with the embroided fancy 'M') as it reminds me of Mother Teresa when I look at this.
I'd like to cook some Indian...something simple anyone?

Actually I've been thinking to make up some new bumper stickers for our car, maybe doing it on her feast would be a good day to do it.
I've been mulling for a while to make two:
Mother Teresa wrote:
It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish. |
|
|
And:
Mother Teresa wrote:
"How can there be too many children? That is like saying there are too many flowers! |
|
|
In Australia it is a common thing to see Frangipanni flower stickers on the back of cars, I bought some so that I could make this sign and then have the flower stickers around it.
While I was looking for the exact quotes above, I found this lovely one:
Mother Teresa wrote:
I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love. |
|
|
You certainly could have some lovely copywork for children to write with all Mother's quotes!

We studied India and Mother Teresa a while back, and will revisit her this week as well. We're repeating a special meal, too. It's not meatless, so we'll make another sacrifice this Friday. (Of course there are lots of meatless Indian meals online and at the library.)
We'll be eating kabab masala, potatoes and peas, raita with cucumbers and tomatoes, and chapatis. I've posted some pictures and recipes on my blogs, if you're interested.

Thank you for your beautiful drawings. We used your lovely sketches for the feasts of St. Augustine and St. Monica as well.
Thanks for bringing your links here!

Barbara, what wonderful posts and recipes! You actually have me thinking of making chapatis and that cheese. I think MY chef Marianna would love it! Nice name for your daughter by the way.

Charlotte,
The second picture is printing to the right of my paper and the bottom quote is getting cut off. Does anyone know how to fix this?

This happened to me, too!
I changed my printer to landscape orientation then tried printing and it worked well.
Hope that helps
God bless,
Christine

That makes sense. It is the only one I did in a landscape orientation. I think my printer automatically adjusts. Thanks Christine!
