Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am wondering how your schedules change with the cooler weather, sunlight at "different hours" of the day, and especially sleeping. Do your children sleep more in winter (after they have adjusted to the time change)?

This week we did not spend as much time outside as we had previously because most of our outdoor time was after naps. I need to rethink our seasonal schedule and would love to hear how yours may have changed.

Thank you, ladies,
Michelle

Our outdoor/free/fun time definitely decreases.

My children do sleep more in the winter only because in the summer it doesn't get dark until about 9:30 p.m. I had to drag them inside so our neighbors could get some sleep.

We LIVE outside in the summer.

This time of year, it's dark by 6:30 p.m. It's usually raining....not as much fun to be out as long in the cold and rain. They are in their room at 8 p.m. and lights out at 9 p.m.

My dh schedule changes with the seasons (and funding) so while our schedule changes it's more in response to dh's schedule.

We definitely spend more time indoors, and I will be rearranging our schedule order a bit to maximize the warmest hours of the day. In the late summer and fall we've been going out for a nature walk around 9, but it will still be too cold for that in the winter. We'll probably move that to early to right before lunch or after quiet time when it's warmer and brighter.

My kids have already been raiding our bookshelves, puzzle drawers, and board game stash to find more indoor things to do.

In the summer, we have to go outside before breakfast or after dinner. It can be dangerously hot mid-afternoon. Fall through Spring we can go out any time of day, so we normally will be outside late morning or mid-afternoon.

I think the light change and the weather change together is what was really throwing me for a loop. In summer we were eating dinner @ 4:30 so we could go out to play after our evening chores were done because it was too hot earlier in the afternoon to be outside. Now the weather is so gorgeous we have not been coming inside until it gets dark, but that means we weren't eating until 6:30 - 7. Also, my children wake with the sun so as soon as we set the clocks back they were waking up an hour earlier.

We now have a slightly better rhythm with shorter nap/quiet times, but earlier bedtimes, and I am getting dinner prepared during lunch so it can cook while we are outside.

Thank you so much ladies for allowing me to see a bit about how the seasons change your planning.
