Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have any information or experience with these folks. Our state does not have a regional center, as far as I know and if it does, it is so unrespected that I cannot find anyone that uses it. I know a few people who have done testing/evaluation through the state - and every person's experience has been negative. Now, maybe it isn't so bad if your issues are clear - blindness, deafness, but otherwise it seems like a useless waste of time and they tend to be very disrespectful of the parents in the whole thing. My sister's son was evaluated but this was useless at best. The only useful information we have gotten so far is from the neurologist that is out of state.

My nephew was in early intervention and obviously those services and the schools have not helped. He just spent another several days in house (detention) because he didn't finish his work - but he cannot finish his work because they are simply throwing 6th grade work at him). I am so frustrated with the whole situation here.

The good news is that it looks like my sis may have a cover and plan so she can teach him and he'll be coming over here during school hours. I'd like to make his time here the most beneficial I possibly can. Please pray as I am feeling very overwhelmed right now - both from this and various other schooling/health things.

From what I have gathered, most of the homeschoolers in our area drive 3 + hours for NACD services. They are very expensive - but maybe not as bad as paying privately for an array of different therapists. I'm looking into this and any experience postive or negative that folks can share, I'd sure like to hear.
They work with those diagnosed with learning disabilities but also other children who simply don't seem to be efficient or with gifted children whose parents don't quite know how to help them reach their potential. It sounds reasonable, good - but very pricey and involves significant driving. Anyways, all I know is from one homeschooling mom and from the website www.nacd.org

Thanks for any information.

Janet
