Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

There is a wonderful article in this week's Sports Article about a boy born without eyes and unable to walk - and how he is now an amazing musician and in a marching band - his dad pushes his wheelchair. It is really moving to read his parents' comments on what a blessing he is to them and how lucky they feel to have him.

I read it too, Marylin!!

You're right. It is an awesome article ("Trumpeting the Father of the Year") and I'm not surprised that the author (Rick Reilly) put it together. He's written lots of excellent stuff...he's one of the great highlights of that magazine (Sports Illustrated). I'm not a sports fan at all, but my dh is, so he always reads that section to me. This time, I got to it before dh did and what an inspiring tale! You might be able to check it out at SI.com

I'm not sure, but I think he wrote a piece not long ago about a father who trains for marathons and such, carrying his disabled son on his back for each event! Another Superdad!

The dad and son who compete in marathons/triathalons are the Hoyts. Rick Reilly did write an article about them for SI last year. You can see an awesome video of them here

My daughter has cerebral palsy and I sobbed through it the first few times I watched it - I still can't make it through without crying.

Kym - I just watched that video and I cannot stop crying!! Thanks for posting it - how inspirational. I had been feeling very sorry for myself before it - tough school week, tired, daughter lost ballet shoes and trying to figure out how to afford another pair....and it really put things into perspective.

I am going to pray for you and your daughter - at our afternoon Angelus every day.

Blessings

Dear Marilyn,

Thank you so much for your prayers, especially for my daughter. She's had a very hard time these past couple of years, and I know prayers have sustained her through some dark times.

I just saw the video again last night on EWTN's Life on the Rock. I still tear up, even though I've seen it at least 10 times now.

Blessings,
Kym
