Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

As you all know, my daughter Mary has a brain disorder known as Bilateral Perisylvian Polymicrogyria.

Anyways, she is developmentaly delayed in all areas. She is a beautiful, happy girl and very sweet.

She really struggles with math. She can read, and as for writing, she becomes fatigued easily.

How much do I push? How far do I take her education? I know this sounds strange, and I want to take it as far as it will go, but she does have difficulty staying on task...every day is different. We do not use medications.

I use CHC for her and some Christian Light Publication materials, which have been wonderful. I am wondering if I am wasting my time trying to use these, or should I let her read and read (which she likes to do)?

I hate to sound lazy, but I am wondering if it would do her a better service to read more, and do bookwork less...as the book work takes so much out of her.

What do you all do? I am thinking...do I push more, enjoy and develop what she has? I have read, in regards to her condition, that as they get older, they will always function half their age.

Public school is NOT an option. Been there, done that, and the fruits of that year are not what I want to go through again.

Would love to hear from you all, or your opinions. Be honest...

Thanks and God bless.

Bridget

Bridget, I think you should go with what you wrote up there. If she likes to read and be read too, that is following the Real Learning AND CM Method, which has worked wonderfully with so many here! Including our own:)
And you are NOT lazy! You couldn't be, even if you wanted too You really are an exceptional Mom!
