Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I would love to hear your suggestions for picture books which teach manners and courtesy. I recently discovered

Cookies Bite Size Life Lessons

Nina Murphy recommended it here at 4Real once and so did Kim at her blog Starry Sky Ranch.

We also loved
Mind Your Manners by Diane Goode

I picked up
Boxes for Katje after reading about it here. I think this book among many other wonderful lessons, demonstrates the value and desirability of writing thank you cards.

Do you have any book suggestions which teach about courtesy? They don't have to be deliberately about manners but they communicate the idea?

I'm especially interested in a book which would communicate to little girls the way to wear skirts in a lady like manner.

I don't have any suggestions, sorry, but I do appreciate the ones you mentioned. I put all 3 on reserve at the library.

Thanks and God bless,
Christine

What about Goops And How To Be Them?

ETA that there is also Karen Santorum's book. I haven't read this one, but it has been 'on my list' for awhile now.

My girls like A Little Book of Manners. And, I think there is one for boys too.

And, this one is helpful:
365 Manners Kids Should Know

We have checked out several of the books from this
Listmania List.

I do love Everyday Graces and read from it a lot, as well as William Bennett's Children's Virtues books.

These might be too quirky for you, but we loved the Joslin and Sendak books:

What Do you Do, Dear?
What Do You Say, Dear?

My sons got such a kick out of them and the lessons really stuck.
