Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My 6 year old son confuses "how" and some of the "wh" words. Like he'll say "How is that going to happen" when he means "when will x happen". And sometimes he'll say "how" when he means "why".

I'm not sure how to teach these concepts to him. I've explained "how" to roll a ball vs. "why" I would roll a ball to illustrate the point, but he still confuses them.

In general I'd like to work on him with his conversational/language skills, but I really don't know where to start.

I'd be very grateful for any suggestions/ideas.

Are those the only words he confuses? My son had problems understanding the meaning of a number of little words. It took me a long time before I caught on that he had a problem with them. This past year we used the "Catch a Star Workbooks" from Lindamood-Bell. They define common words, use them in simple sentences, they give the child a line to write a sentence using the word.

As to your particular question, I've seen remediation games and workbooks for the "5 W's" sold with special education teaching materials. I wonder if something like that might help? I've found special education materials at Remedia and Gander Publishing.
