Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

i have a friend whos child was just diagnosed with aspbergers. it isnt a total suprise for them as they knew something wasnt right for a while. she is a homeschooler and has done really well with his schooling so far, but they are seeking out what support they will need for his social issues. i was wondering if anyone out there knows of organizations, support groups or blogs of hs parents who have kids with AS. you can either post something or send me a private message. please pray for them.

I really feel for this family. We shall pray for them. It certainly is a tough time.
Our son was dx 16 months ago. It took me about a year to get my head around it and grieve. We always knew there was something going on, but still. It's his 8th birthday today, and I feel like the worst is behind us as we now understand him so much better. But man those 8 years were tough!

There is a yahoo group for christian hs of Aspies.

I highly recommend this one. They are a very chatty group, but the lady who runs it is a wealth of info.

A great book to read is:

Homeschooling the Child with Asperger Syndrome. By Lise Pyles.

Tony Attwodd (world leader in ASD and Australian!) has a great site. He is also an advocate for kids to be homeschooled.

This site looks great too. Lots of links.

The Homeschool Diner's Guide to
Homeschooling With Special Needs.

Sorry but I still have no idea how to make the direct link work.

As an aside, we thought that dairy was causing a lot of our boys behaviour problems. We took him off dairy at the same time that he came home from school. We recently re-introduced milk without him knowing, for 3 days. No behaviour change! So we are fairly sure that his meltdowns were brought on by the stress of school. I've stopped wondering if we are doing the right thing.
