Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'd like to introduce myself, having just discovered this site!
I'm Betty, mom to a 4 year old daughter with Down syndrome. Lou will be attending Montessori preschool part-time, and I'll be homeschooling her the rest of the week. She is such a dear child, with her largest delay being speech. My biggest question/worry thus far has been wondering how she will be accepted by typical homeschooled kids... Lou's 4 other siblings are much older than she is, so there is no way she can "tag along" with a sib and be blended in that way. Any ideas/suggestions?

My daughter Christy, age 5 with Down syndrome participated in a Montessori preschool program last year which I ran as part of a homeschool co-op. The other children knew her from birth, and the activites which worked best were; singing activities, like London Bridge, snacktime, coloring/crafts, and outdoor play, where langugage delays don't really come into play.
Christy really prefers a little girl named Mary age 4 with Down syndrome, as I describehere
I think we are so blessed to homeschool, where mothers always teach love and acceptance, regardless of differences.
