I'm going to do one of these this year. I'm hoping to combine the Liturgical year with seasonal stuff, but I would like to hear more about what you put on your tables, what has worked well, etc...

Books, I am also interested in what others have to say and I am also wondering where is your seasonal table? Is it in your schoolroom or in the main area of your home?

I have a table that is right next to our main kitchen table. It usually holds napkins and stuff like that, but I'm going to clear that off. I wanted a table that we could see most of the day. Its high enough that my almost 1 yr old won't be able to reach, but my 3 yr old will be...

Hello
Here is how our table looks as I type...
We are displaying Around the Year by Elas Beskow, turned to the August page. we have a glass vase filled with large feathers we have found while out walking & 2 peacock feathers from a friends peacock. We have a lovely twisty branch in there, too. Another thicker branch is on the table, with our tiny Rose & Calendula flower fairies standing on there. We also have our two bigger gnomes on the table. We have a wodden bowl filled with pretty stones from the beach, a pottery bowl filled with acorns we collected on our walk yesterday. A few seashells, snail shells & some leaves that have started to change colours are there too. There are also a couple of little metal birds & a gorgeous carved wooden log, complete with wooden mushrooms.

UK Mum, your table sounds gorgeous! I think when we make fairies, I will aim for Seasonal ones so that we can switch them with the seasons. I am on the hunt for acorns so I can make caps out of them!

Thank you, Books!
We get a lot of pleasure from our nature table. I am looking forward to giving it a good clean September 1st & re-doing it for autumn. We made some really nice 'root children' to put on in the depths of winter to remind the children that God is still at work, even when we can see nothing (good life lesson!)
I was hoping to made wee people with the caps. They were so small I may struggle, though.
At lent we had our bowl of earth & ashes sprinked with grass seed on there...I think that is in 'Earthways'? (I will have to look it up) & our crown of thorns, too.

There were some table descriptions here - Creating a Seaonal Display Table. I thought there was another thread, too, but am not finding it. It would be neat if folks who have a seasonal table would post pictures here. You can add images if they are hosted somewhere (like a blog, or photo service i.e. Flicker, Photobucket). Or you can send them to a moderator and we'll have Tim upload. I would love to see them.

Oh wow. I am really starting to get excited about this. The ideas here are fabulous. UK Mum, what are root children? I love how you made the symbolism point to our faith and would like to incorporate that.
Donna, your tables really help me to think more about a sense of order. I think otherwise I probably would have just scattered things. Your tables seem to really create a focal point that both represents the season and our Faith. Thank you so much for sharing.
One thing I am excited about is making candles this year. I am waiting for the Autumn beeswax candle kit from Magic Cabin for the littles, and I have a candle dipping kit for the olders to do. They will be our candles to light through Autumn.
I'm planning on putting up a small shelf above our table. Since I haven't bought it yet, is there anything that I should keep in mind? I was mostly just visualizing one of those simple dark wood shelves that has a few hooks under it...

Donna they are lovely!
We do similar things but i dont have a specific spot.
Sometimes on the Atrium table sometimes in the window sill. sometimes on a book shelf. It would benice to have a place more permanantly but the kids always have our in transition and are daily rearranging .
I havent posted anything on my blog since Corpus Christi ive been too morning sick but here are a few older pics. We have kept it simple so far.

Books, here is a link to a blog post about our early summer table
Our root children were very easy to make. They are little waldorf doll heads, inside a brown felt body & hood. Does that make any sense???? LOL! Actually, like the gnomes Elizabeth made for gnomes & gnumbers.

hmmm, well a root child is not like a fairy, just brown & plain. I will try to remember to take a pic of ours tomorrow...its bedtime here, now.

Love the pictures everyone....they are wonderful! I was thinking of this the other day too...different / new ideas for the seasonal table.
Our seasonal table is on the front porch....the top of a 3-level-shelf. We don't really have room in our house for it, so I figured it serves its purpose by the door that we go in and out of all the time.
Right now, it has seashells and rocks from the beach, some lavender and rosemary we gathered the other day on a walk, bird feathers, a jar of sand, a flower pot with "stuff" glued onto it  , a sketch of chickadee that we laminated, a beach poem, a tray with a beach theme, on top of a light blue piece of fabric.
