Aidan just came up to me today and sounded out two words in his reading book. They were words I hadn't even introduced to him -- he was looking ahead in the reader.
Wow! He turned 7 in June but has cognitive delays after a stroke in infancy. He is tentatively diagnosed as mildly mentally retarded. So this is a big milestone.
I am just SO proud of him. I had to share. He is so proud of himself!! Still a long way from fluency but blending sounds by himself is a great first step!!

Stand back, world!! Here comes Aidan!! How wonderful! Having been through wondering if my dd with cerebral palsy, nystagmus and visual processing issues would ever read, and now wondering about testing my 8 y.o. with DiGeorge syndrome and dev delays, and possibly CAPD, I do know how big this is! Hooray Aidan and hugs to you, Willa!
