Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have been wondering if I need to do more with my John. He'll be doing 5th grade this year and his shaky reading skills slow him down. I was looking at the Saxon Phonics Intervention program but hesitate to spend that much money without hearing from someone who has used it.
Does anyone know anything about it??

Mary Ann,

I tried it and found it too boring and long. Its scripted like the Saxon math lessons. I ended up using Phonics Pathways with one of my older boys. It worked well, and we just read a couple pages a day. At first it was easy which built confidence, and then got harder. I also used those words for a spelling list. Another good resource is The Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading written by Jessie Wise. Its more scripted and has extra activities built in to the lessons.

This is a pretty old thread but, in case anyone is interested, I'm very happy with this program for our 12 year-old learning disabled son.
