Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone had a child with this problem? My ds age 9 writes with nice handwriting, but goes extremely slow. He also holds his pencil in an awkward way, even though he uses a grip. He is a decent speller, but has some anxiety about not wanting to spell something worng when he writes. Any ideas for increasing his speed?

I have a son with this problem and he looks very different from what you describe. Why do you think your son has dysgraphia? What you describe sounds like a normal 9 year old kid who is a bit of a perfectionist. I would give him more practice. He could be your grocery list maker, chart maker, he could make tags for shelves, cabinets, etc. More real life practice should help him to get over his anxiety and speed up a bit.

I also have a son formally diagnosed with dysgraphia and the only thing he has in common with your son is slowness. I agree with Michelle's suggestions. Good luck!

He has not been diagnosed as having dysgraphia, so maybe it's just a writing anxiety. Thank you for your input and suggestions. I'll try to see how I can get him to write more in our everyday activities.
