Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I recently came across these for kids on the ASD spectrum and have begun to use them with my own 9 year old son for schedules and reading

The people in British Columbia have been busy

If any of you come across useful resources, it is handy to post them for other likes myself to use.

thanks for the resources! I will post if I come across anything. I may have posted elsewhere, but I do know that Christian Light Educators math program has really helped my daughter with math, in more ways than one. She was diagnosed with the rare condition of Pachygyria, a form of Lissencephaly (less folds in the brain...less nerve communication), and thank God, has had no seizures yet. I wish I had more resources, but I don't. Sorry.

There are book and sofrward for PECS. I often use stuff from Google Images for my autie son for things like science, Cub Scouts, and so on.

Also, if your child has a SLP who uses Boardmaker, ask her (or him, I guess , but I've never met a male SLP) for some print outs; Boardmaker only comes with a site license (gnashing of teeth) so it's perfectly acceptable to ask.

Have you looked at http://www.dotolearn.com/ ? It has a free area with some useful stuff.

In Christ,

See what happens when I am distracted?

There are books and software for PECS.

Sigh.

I don't remember the name of the book offhand. I'll look around.

In Christ,

We tried PECS for my son with speech problems.

I printed pics of his toys, etc. off Amazon.com and cut out pics from the grocery store fliers, of the brand of food (i.e., a pic of HEB store brand peanut butter, because that's exactly what I buy).

Our SLP gave us some, but they were too abstract for my little guy (i.e., a picture of a rowboat to stand for the song, Row Row Row Your Boat).

I also cut up pictures of things I couldn't find on the web, like I took a picture of OUR back door for "go outside" because the picture of trees and bushes from the PEC software, he didn't get.

But he talks now (more or less -he uses very few consonants, so no one outside the fam can understand him!) and we don't use it anymore.
