Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have a 9yo dd who is diagnosed mood disorder not otherwise specified and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. My question is this. She seems to have a really hard time following directions. I have to literally give her time from the time I tell her to listen to the time I start giving her directions. It is like as soon as the first words are out of my mouth she is anticipating whaat I am going to say and coming up with her reponse, which is usually defensive.( I hope this makes sense).
Does anyone else deal with this and have any advice on how to help with this issue?

I haven't dealt with this at your level--no medical problems--but I've got what I think of as a "difficult" child. What sorts of things have you already tried?

Hugs and prayers for you!

Have you checked her for CAPD? Following directions is one of the signs that your child might have CAPD. Check out this website http://familysurvey.com/parent/medical/ears/central_auditory .html

Only an audiologist can diagnosis CAPD.
God bless

I would ask if you have taking the child in for a hearing assesment. My son was like and we were shocked when we found out how hearing impaired he was because he talked normally and appeared to hear what was told to him.
