Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Guess that doesn't sound very reassuring, does it?

What I meant was I've seen late, late bloomers who have turned out just fine.

I do feel for Chrisitian today though. My 13 yr old would feel the same way. He bucks and tries to run whenever I get a tutor. But, surprisingly, he performs for that tutor. So I can relate.

Once again, and prayers.

Nah, you're not late. He's there from 8:30-3. I spent about an hour there this morning, then another couple of hours here at home filling out forms and questionnaires. I liked her very well and Christian seemed as at ease as possible. Lots and lots of questions!

I agree. This is especially true of the melancholic temperament - says the mother of a melancholic boy .

Sending prayers!

Oh Elizabeth...I am so full of emotion for your situation! Be not afraid, friend! From St. Francis de Sales...

"In all your affairs, reply entirely on the providence of God through which alone all your plans succeed...Strive very gently to cooperate with it. Then, believe that if you trust well in God success will come to you."

God loves you all so much and is tending to you so well. Just a few weeks when I hit a rough spot of doubt, your reassuring words helped bring me back to His plan. I have to choose...do I believe that He was guiding me all along and will continue to guide me OR does He leave haphazardly? This is why we have each other...to remind each other that whether our world is being rocked or not, we are His and His plan is PERFECT!

Two personal notes...we are all late bloomers in this family in one way or another, including my dh...if you want to discuss your experience in an informal way with aformentioned dh, just let us know. Sometimes it is good to talk through your experience with someone in the field who isn't actively engaged in the process.

To be honest, Elizabeth...my joy for you is over-riding all other emotions! May today be a new beginning of something beautiful and purposeful for your whole family. Praying!

Love,

He's home. She really couldn't comment much yet. It will be weeks before we get the whole report but she did remark on how amazingly well he did when he was read a story and asked to tell it back with as many details as possible . Later, in the car, I asked what was easiest and he told me it was telling a story back to her. Interestingly, the digit span was really hard...

Sounds like my Katie...she can only repeat 5 digits back...or remember 5 things in a sequence. She cannot take a sentence that was mixed up and put it back in order very well. She is a terrible speller and is awful in math. I got the Audiblox program to use with her...i haven't started yet...I kinda wish there were another way, but I think once we get going it will be a source of confidence for her.

Could you please share more of your journey with your ds? by any chance is this son artistic? My dd has an amazing sense of perspective in her drawings even though they are the figures that a typical 12yo would draw. She is very visual and has visual gift and a visual "challenge".

Hugs to you all Elizabeth,

Praying that all these tests will give you some direction, remember that no professional loves him like you nor could they have done for him what you have over the years. You really have brought him to his fullest potential now you are just receiving some direction for the next way to go.

Elizabeth,
Better late than never; just saw this and am praying that this is a positive turning point for your son and that you have a lot of good information to help you along your journey with him...

Elizabeth,

Praying.

I remember how exhausting my first diagnostic interview was. Being debriefed on your own child is more tiring than one would expect!

I hope you get good direction and help from this evaluation.

In Christ,
Deborah

I don't know why, but after this day, I find this quote hilarious! That's exactly what this process is.

The results are in. I meet with her at 9 tomorrow morning. I tried to get a sneak preview but all she said was, "It's a really long report. Get a cup of coffee on your way."

Thinking of you: whatever he is, he is very special with his own plan mapped out for him before even you knew him.
