Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Regretfully, I have not used the 4Real "Favorites" feature (located at top of all pages) well . What's in your 4Real Favorites?

I'm especially interested in "designing your own curriculm" and "A Living Education" Forum faves (the forums on the top half of the homepage.) Please share your favorite Favorites, and if you have time and inclination, explain why the topic is a favorite, how it has been helpful to you. Thanks so much!

Love,

Oh, I use this feature ALL. THE. TIME!!!!    I like to put high school related posts in there since dd is now in 8th grade. I also put posts with links that I don't want to forget about - i.e. one Christmas there was a thread of shopping links to Catholic businesses.

Oh, wow... I have a lot of favorites!!

There is a lot there from Living Education - Real Learning, Life in the Domestic Church (A LOT from Domestic Church!!!), Early Childhood, etc. A couple of long term prayer requests I keep tucked away there as reminders....and a few from Our Lady's Loom, Larder, and Laundry, Mothering, and Mother Nurture....um...actually...there's probably a little something from all over the boards. Most of my favorites are from the top half of the boards - the Living Education fora. In particular, I love reading some of the first conversations here regarding Charlotte Mason, and some of the great Montessori conversations.

Fun thread, Angie!

Here's my very favorite: If You Had to Do It All Over Again...- I go back to it often. It's a thread where experienced homeschoolers are giving those of us at the beginning of our homeschooling journey some great advice.

I've also got all the links to threads about First Holy Communion, and a few about slowing down and enjoying the moment.

Ummmm...how does it work?
How do you get topics in there?
I have always wondered and it is probably very easy. Thanks for your patience with me.

I love this feature! I mostly mark favorite crafts and threads with links to sites I think I will use in the (relatively) near future. I also have the continent boxes thread in there. I've got a few of the liturgical year threads as well, a couple of recipes, and, for some odd reason, the recent post about "circling the drain". I guess I must have felt I was circling the drain myself that day !

There is a little button all the way down at the bottom of this page that says [Add this topic to My Favorites] which I just noticed myself for the first time. I expect I'll be putting that to good use!

To tell you the truth, I've never even looked at that option.
Now that I know it's there, well, I just may have to start using it

Thanks!
Christine

Oh, I love that button!!!!!

I use it all the time for the threads that have a ton of links. For Example the threads about FHC notebook. I use that thread at least once a week and it is easier than printing and typing in links.

Just recently I added the menu ideas thread because it has those links for different websites.

Oh and the Liturgical Year threads, LOVE THOSE!

A little of everything! Large Family Unschooling, tips on digital cameras, Introverts and sin, updo ideas, the one year adventure novel, planners, and pregnancy blues!

I don't use it enough, and I forget to go back to them. I'm guilty of using it TOO much on other sites, so I guess I was trying to control myself.

oh my! I need to weed mine out! I have several pages of favorities!
Some I only have to remind me to check a certain thread.
Some I have because I was reading a thread on the go and didn't have time to note something helpful to me or another so I faved it.
Some are FYI stuff for future reference.

I've been on this board for 4 years and I never noticed it. Sheesh!

Thanks, Angie. There are some I'd like to have had in there. I'll have to go search for them.

I'm glad this has been helpful...not quite what I had in mind but helpful is good . I had planned on cheating and just adding *your* favorites to my favorites ...thanks, Sarah, I have now added "If you had to do it all over again" to my Favorites .

How about this...

Anyone else want to pull up old favorites and share them here? Hopefully, I'll be back shortly to share a few...

Love,

Oh ladies, I had a lovely time this past weekend meandering through the Real Learning and More archives. I highly recommend it! Here's how I did it (although there are probably other ways):

I went to the Real Learning and More forum and clicked the *Search* button in the upper right hand of the page. I typed in *a* and *Start Search*. From there I went to the last page - 93! I glanced over titles and higher number of replies. If one caught my eye, I clicked, started reading, if it was a keeper, I SAVED IT TO MY FAVORITES! I did this for about 30 pages, saving practical "how-to" ideas. There were a lot of philosophical posts there, because this was before we had a separate *Philosophy of Education* forum, but I skipped those for now. I also went on little rabbit trails. For example, there are several posts on how to simplify across different forums so I searched them all. Next I did the same search but sorted by *Number of Views*. This brought up many popular topics, old and new. Next, I tried to search by my *Posted By* name, but ran into a technical trouble so I'll revist later.

I have saved faves on organizing (recored-keeping, time, space and materials), methods/knowledge (simplify, strewing, read alouds, unit studies, movies and video), methods/skill (memory work, math skills), and materials, plus a few subject specific topics.

I hope to go through each of the A Living Education forums in the same manner soon. This exercise has been wonderfully motivating!

We will all have different faves based on our current needs but I can't leave without sharing at least one...

one-on-one read alouds...reading this post reminded me to not stress our family's lack of a group read aloud and to enjoy one-on-one reads which I was inspired to add with my 17yo dd (Don Quixote) and, for the first time, my dh (Chesterton mysteries) .

Please share more on your faves. Thanks!

Love,
