Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I probably should post this in the literature section, but since the Loveliness Fairs are posted here, I'll start here. I ran across this poem by Sara Teasdale and thought it was so fitting for this group and all we try to accomplish.

Barter
By Sara Teasdale

Life has loveliness to sell,
     All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff.
Soaring fire that sways and sings,
And children's faces looking up
Holding wonder like a cup.

Life has loveliness to sell,
Music like a curve of gold,
Scent of pine trees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And for your spirit's still delight,
Holy thoughts that star the night.

Spend all you have for loveliness,
     Buy it and never count the cost;
For one white singing hour of peace
Count many a year of strife well lost,
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or could be.

Beautiful! Thanks for posting it.

I especially like the line about a child's face and wonder.
