Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I would use to make charts? Like daily planner charts, or any type of chart requiring boxes and what not.(I'd also like to make calendar type pages.) I thought Scribus would help me out with that, but that's desktop publishing for doing page layouts. So, I don't know what I would use or what to do. Can anyone help me out?

I use excel.. but I don't think it's the most efficient.. and I think maybe Word has things like calendar pages as a template.

I use Open Office -- it's free! And you can save/export to different formats, including xls, doc, pdf, etc.

Same here. "Calc" is their version of Excel.

I actually do have Open Office, but I don't know where to begin....there seem to be so many things to choose from. Where could I go to get step by step help? I've searched "how to use Open Office" but nothing's helped yet....

You can use Open Office Calc -- it's a spreadsheet application but you can adjust widths and heights of the boxes so they're more "calendar-like". This is how I do it anyway. Highlight the cells you want to change and choose "Format" -- you can adjust just one cell at a time, or one row, or several rows or columns (Press Ctrl as you click on whichever rows or columns you want to change). I do our calendars a week at a time (this is how my kids like it) and make adjustments when needed. If I want a monthly or daily calendar I just print out what I have on Google Calendar.

If you want something automated it's a bit more involved (and that's why I don't usually bother) -- this might help.

I use the calendar in Works. For charts, I make a table in Word and fill it in. I am sure there are more efficient programs and ways to do it, but I have used the same templates for 8 years and am rather stuck in my ways.
