Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Nine days ago in Huntington Utah 6 miners became trapped in a coal mine. Officials remain hopeful that the miners could have retreated into an air pocket.

more info--NPR

My mother works for the Salt Lake City Diocese and is part of an effort to help the families of these miners. It is my understanding that some of the miners are from Mexico and have come up to wait for the news regarding their loved ones trapped in the mine. If they have died they will take them back to Mexico for burial. The parish priest there has only $1000 to help with all the necessities of these 6 families (food, travel, burial, diapers, etc.).

If these men have died, they have lost their breadwinner.

The people need:
Prayers, Spiritual bouquets, Rosaries, Holy Cards (in Spanish if possible), San Rafael items(St. Raphael) is their Mission Patron, and monetary donations.

Pictures and cards are also welcome. The men have not been found yet. It may take yet another week.

The mailing address of the mission is:

San Rafael Mission
C/O Notre Dame de Lourdes Church
Rev. Donald Hope, Pastor
160 North Carbon Ave.
Price, UT 84501

You could also send a donation directly to :

Office of Hispanic Ministries
Marķa Cruz Gray, Director
27 C Street
Salt Lake City, UT 84103

(This is the Diocesan Office address and would see that the donations get there. She travels down there frequently).

If nothing else. . .PRAY!

Sarah,
Thanks so much for posting this. We have been praying and will again remember them at Mass. I was wondering about these families and what they might need. I will also pass this info along to others that might help.
God bless you for caring enough to help in this way!
Love in Jesus through Mary with Saint Joseph,
Helen
