My kids love to read the comics. I often find that the comic section of the newspaper has objectionable content.
Any ideas on where I can find appropriate/Christian comics?
My kindergarten age son loves TinTin and The Action Bible, which are both comic book style.

Well you can probably buy books of the comics that you are ok with.

There are some great old Marvel comics (from the 80s) if you can get your hands on them:
Francis
The Life of John Paul II
A favorite comic source is the old Treasure Chest of Fun & Fact (from the 1940-70s). All the copyright free ones are archived online at Catholic University site. They include great comic style stories of saints and famous Americans who were Catholic. Love these! Here is a sample: "America's New Saint: St. Martin de Porres"
Daughters of St. Paul had a couple comics:
Padre Pio
Pope John Paul II
Daughters of St. Paul now have several graphic novels on saints as well as comic book/coloring book combos.
I found this link as well which covers some I have mentioned as well as a few others.
Comics on Catholic Saints and other Catholic Heroes

I guess it depends on what you deem appropriate. We are die-hard Calvin and Hobbes fans here, though thankfully the kids all take Calvin as a caution of how NOT to behave. We have been gifted several of the books over the years.
Thanks for all the links, Mary M!

Ha, yes! We love Calvin and Hobbes here, too. My kids also cut their teeth on Dilbert . . . hm. I do have a collection of young cynics here, so that's not really a recommendation.
My brother as a child collected a huge library of vintage Peanuts books, many of which my children now have and love. My 11-year-old son, in particular, also loves Tintin. He has also liked the graphic-novel-format biographies of saints like Padre Pio and St. Maximilian Kolbe, which we've found in our little parish library.
We don't actually subscribe any more to the print paper, so don't deal with what's in the physical funny papers, which is probably just as well . . .

Just saw this new JPII book today - and it is a comic book format. I didn't have the opportunity to read it through - but what I did was excellent.
John Paul II: The Journey of a Saint

And Regina Doman has just published a comic book on Pope Frances.
Pope Frances: I Believe in Mercy
She has other Manga style graphic novels as well. This one is referred to in the promos as a comic book though.

My boys, who are big TinTin fans, really like the Loupio comic books published by Magnificat about a little boy who knows St Francis.
They also recently discovered the old Garfield cartoon on Netflix, and I think they would like those comics as well.

So we ended up buying it this weekend at one of the events. Really enjoying it.
