I'm trying to start more of a Charlotte Mason type approach with my daughter who just turned 6. I'd like to try Five in a Row and am wondering if I just start with Volume I? I also have a 3yr old and 1yr old. It looks like there are several volumes?

You can start with any volume. It isn't necessary to do them in any specific order. Have fun with it. I love FIAR.

I would start with Before Five In a Row, it's very nice and easy. I did it last year after baby #4 and I had a 2yo, 31/2yo and 41/2 yo and we all enjoyed it.

I thought about suggesting this, but some 6 yr olds might be bored with some of the Before FIAR books. You could focus on the more interesting ones, like Blueberries for Sal, Caps for Sale, etc? That might hold the 3 yr old's interest a bit more?

Also, I should have mentioned that volume 4 is for older children. Even though it says 7-8 on the cover, the experience of most FIARers is that its more appropriate for 8-9 yr olds.
