Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have or have used in the past Saints for Young Readers for Everyday? I'm wondering what the text is like, what age for reading level, etc. Thanks for any insight on this one!
Blessings!

From Page 82 (July-December book) August 14, St. Maximilian Kolbe:

"Raymond Kolbe was bron in Poland in 1894. He joined the Franciscan Order in 1907 and took the name that we know himby: Maximilian. Maximilian loved his vocation very much, and he especially loved the Blessed Mother. He added the name "Mary" when he pronounced solemn vows in 1914. Father Maximilian Mary was convinced that the world of the twentieth centruy needed their Heavenly Mother to guide and protect them. "

Hope that helps you answer some of your questions. Let me know if you have more questions.

Hi Meredith,
We have used these books in the past. I would read them aloud at 3 o'clock tea time so we could all learn a bit about the saint of the day. There is a brief bio, about one page, followed by a very brief prayer or reflection (just a couple of sentences)on how we can relate it to our lives. To compare it to the Saints and Feast Days book that Seton sells: the Loyola book has longer bios and a list of activities for each saint, but the Pauline books have more saints. The Pauline books are nice in that the bios are suitable to read aloud to even the littles, eg. we don't hear exactly what it was St. Maria Goretti was pressured to do.
Hope this helps.
Blessings,
Mrs.K

Hi Meredith,

We love these books and find them quite convenient for daily use along with other saint books--this series came up for discussion a while ago here!

The earlier edition (I believe pre-1985) is inspiring. The current edition is factual and offers very little in the way of spiritual food. If you can pick up an older set you'll enjoy it more.

Hi Meredith,

We own the Saint books you mentioned & we used them for a few years, but I wanted to mentioned that our favorite Saint book is this one published by the Slaves of the Immaculate. I do like the fact that the entire year is contained in 1 book, however, my favorite part is the information it contains. This book is entirely Marian and chockful of all kinds of interesting historical tidbits about the Catholic Faith. It also includes some beautiful paintings. My favorite entry is on the Feast of the Annunciation (March 25th):

"March 25 was the day on which Adam and Even were created. It was on March 25 that Jesus died on the Cross for us. Saint John the Baptist was beheaded on March 25, one year before the death of Our Lord. Our Lady said to Marie Bernadette at Lourdes, 'I am the Immaculate Conception' on March 25."

HTH!
