Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My sister is into the Women Of Faith stuff and I want to steer her to something Catholic that is similar. She's looking for more in her faith and I'm afraid that Women of Faith will steer her away from Catholocism. What do you recommend in it's place?

She does not like to read but may listen to CD's or watch tv. She might read some as the way she got into this WOF was a book left by someone in the chapel at church. I advised her to consult her priest before attending the WOF conference that she has signed up for.

Help!

Johnnette Benkovic's Abundant Life? (I'm positive I didn't spell her name correctly!) She has written several books that are lovely, and she has such a devotion to the Blessed Mother.

I would think that her books would be a good choice.

Kelly,

I have attended Women of Faith before. In fact, at one of the conferences Kathy Troccoli (a sweet Catholic) gave her "testimony" and she talked about how her faith had helped her during the rough times in her life. She was very unapologetically Catholic. I have never seen or felt any anti-Catholic sentiment from any of the speakers or artists. Their entire message is "Jesus loves you."

On the other hand, the conference IS very emotionally charged. If that is what your sister is looking for then, I agree, it might steer her away from Catholicism. I guess, if it were me I would share her excitement when she got back from the conference and then tie her "insights" to Church teaching (i.e. "Yes! Isn't it wonderful that Jesus loves us! I think about that every time I take the Eucharist. Communion is so much more meaningful when I remember to fix my mind on that truth as I am preparing to receive Him.")

I personally like this book: Women of Grace by Michaelann Martin. The chapters are short with some questions. She is easy to read and gives personal stories which I enjoy. I felt like it was a lightweight verson of Kimberly Hahn's More Precious than Jewels which is a CD not a book.

Thank you, Ladies. I sent her a few links and reminded her in a nice way about how we can get God's life within us (Sacraments). You are quick to the rescue!

Thanks so much.
