Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We have a son named Andrew which increases our devotion to Saint Andrew the Apostle.

We have a free printable version of the Saint Andrew's Day Prayer at the bottom of our Saint Andrew page if you make this devotion during the Advent season. Just click on the four-up image of the pdf. You can print either the pictures, or the prayers, or both. Its handy to have extra copies.

Happy Saint Andrew's Feast Day! Especially to all those named Andrew or Andrea!

I love the St. Andrew 'novena'. I prayed it last year, and it brought great peace about something I was struggling with.

thank you! I wasn't familiar with this novena but would like to pray it this year. our first 2 children were baptized at St. Andrew's Mission, a very small parish on an Indian reservation that we still remember fondly. I don't know much about the saint though, so thanks for the reason to learn more about him!

and happy feast day to you too!

You are so welcome!

We had a fun moment with our Andrew (6) this morning when he realized that today is his day!

We all love this prayer because of its imagery and because we say it with the candles (and a light for reading :-) before Rosary. It seems snuggly and it really adds to the "coming" feeling of Advent.

Happy Feast Day!

Bumping as a reminder for this year.

Quote:
While a novena is normally a nine-day prayer, the term is sometimes used for any prayer that is repeated over a series of days. This prayer is often called the "Christmas Novena" or the "Christmas Anticipation Prayer," because it is prayed 15 times every day from the Feast of Saint Andrew the Apostle (November 30) until Christmas.

Thanks for posting!

I'll leave the email notice up to remind me to find our cards. The children love this novena and so do we.

Happy St. Andrew's Day!

has it been a year already??

THANK YOU Mary Fifer for introducing this last year, and Mary M for keeping track of these things for me! (now what are the odds of me finding the laminated cards?)

This has been a favorite Advent devotion of many members here over the years.

Starts today:
Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in piercing cold. In that hour, vouchsafe, O my God! to hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of Our Saviour Jesus Christ, and of His Blessed Mother. Amen

Another nice downloadable prayer card with Christmas Novena from JOY {filled} Family. Am going to print out some of Mary's and some of these and set them around the house as a reminder.
