Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

[I just edited the title here as I don't want the phrase to show up on a web search engine]
Has anyone had any experience with this church or know a relative who belongs?

I was soooooo optimistic a couple of months ago when I heard from my dc that my younger sister had returned to the faith and my 10 yr. old nephew had made his First Communion!! I did have a nagging feeling of why...why wasn't anyone invited....why wasn't it announced....why didn't my sister tell me herself....

....but if you know the chain of communication in our family, it wouldn't be so farfetched.

Finally, I asked my mom if she had been to the First Communion and , no....it was at an "alternative Catholic" church that is "inclusive." My heart fell. None of my sisters or sil are still in the Church;

So I was looking for a different church in the phone book today and I found it. It is this church and after looking around it is worse than I thought. If you watch the Ordination slide show on the Pictures page, there is clearly a woman being ordained to something by a man in a bishop's miter. The weird thing is that my sister was divorced and obtained an Annulment. She was re-married validly in the Church. I do know that she is not open to children, which must be the motivation of a lot of these parishioners.

Is it somehow less serious if this "bishop" was appointed by the people (as it seems is the case from their literature, which downplays Apostolic Succession). That would make them just another protestant demonination without the True Presence right?
Not that that's o.k. but it wouldn't be as horrible as if they had a real priest and bishop, consecrating the Eucharist and then making a mockery of the faith.

Please help me figure this out. I want to help my sister and her family; her teenager is my godson. I can't give her advice or preach to her...my role as oldest in the family means I have to try very hard not to be bossy , (if you're oldest and a mother hen you know what I mean ).

Thanks for reading this.

There is a similar church near my dad in FL. It is not Catholic, though it claims to be. It is very strange. Even he calls them "nuts".

I am not sure what to tell you. I am not sure exactly how this church works, except that it seems to lure Catholics with "issues" away from the Truth.

Our deacon left our Parish to become Pastor at this "Catholic" church in out town. Its really sad because he took about 200 parisheners with him and is performing sacraments, has ccd etc. and these people still think they are in the Church. They are really strange. We pray every time we pass their "church".
