Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I don't know if this is the right place to post or not, but has anyone used Lingva Latina Pars I Familia Romana?? Our kids are taking a class using this course. Unfortunately, we are very behind with the workbook. I find the book interesting, but am not able to be as helpful as I could be since there aren't really "directions" per se in the workbook. And, as it is all in Latin, although I can read a little of it, it is very confusing. Is there an answer key one can purchase? I went to the website and it said you have to be a certified teacher or something akin to that. Is there a book out there that would be helpul to in understanding cases etc.? I have looked for this and that online, but I would rather have a book so that we don't have to print things out and I have dial-up and that is annoying in and of itself! A good reference book for Latin would be great. Or tips on using this particular text, or if you know of a perfect website for this book (an aid) that would be appreciated. I want to make the most of this opportunity that we have as this class is taught by a wonderful priest, but I feel as if they are getting further and further behind. I did check out a few books at the Library, but they are either more of a separate course, or Latin for Dummies, which has been pretty helpful, but it is more of a complete overview of Latin as a language and the history of it etc.

Thanks in advance if any of you all are in the know when it comes to Latin.

My high school boys have been using this for three years with Latin tutors. It has about killed us.    You feel like you have been thrown into the Latin ocean with no life raft. Even the teachers manual...in Latin. Because it's an immersion program, you don't use charts and lists to learn the cases, declensions etc.

One thing that has helped is a good Latin English dictionary that has those charts in the beginning of it.

Sorry I am not more help, one of my guys has done well with this program because of his great tutor, the other has floundered.

Kim,

I think you will find this very useful:
http://www.amazon.com/Lingua-Latina-College-Companion-Vocabu lary/dp/1585101915/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274287668 &sr=8-1

I'm in the middle of my first trimester , so I can't help more at the moment. Sorry.

Thanks folks. We have a priest that teaches homeschoolers at the church once a week, but we are still sort of lost. I ordered the book. I hope it helps.

Hope you feel better Ladycarobe. Lots of Gatorade and protein packed breakfasts with lots of tiny meals in between. Good luck and congratulations!

Thanks again everyone!

Have you seen this site: Lingua Latina Focus Publishing?

My son will be using this book soon -- we've finished Getting Started with Latin. I think the book looks great, I love the approach, but I studied Latin for seven years in school.

That should help considerably!   An immersion program with classes only once or twice a week just doesn't cut it. Daily use with a Latin background would make this program awesome!
