Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ok I am about to order homeschool supplies and I am using Mater ambilius
Here is what is on my list
A life of our lord
Illistrated life of the saints
catholic tales for boys and girls
the way fof the cross the story of padre pio
The jessi tree
Childrens daily prayer
the mass explained to children
Harp and the Laurel Wreath
Hillside grammer book
Classic Myths for children
This country of ours
The ancient world of the bible
The Earth the geography of our world
Science with plants
Then both the home science adventures for birds and bugs.

I am concerned about the home science adventures because they are really expensive so really wanting to knw if anyone got these and if they are worth it.
I would just be getting the one with out binoculars, because we alreay have a few sets of those.lol But combined they come to 63.90 and so al my science comes to, almost 80.00! Which I think may be a little to high.

Lori, I started integrating alot of the MA stuff with my CHC package a few months ago, so I already had some of the books.
"This Country of Ours" is available free online. I'll find the link for you if you need it.

I did not buy either of the home science advetures. I felt there were enough activities just using the three different books (Science with Plants, Burgess Bird Book, Tarantula Scientist)

Hope this helps!

Could you wait and purchase one of the science kits later? (Most likely you are like myself. . .trying to make decisions and order now while the funds are available!)

Paula, could you share with us how you are combining CHC with MA? Thanks!

I'll try. Just remember that not everything works for everyone!

Essentially with CHC I use their overall daily and weekly schedules, to keep us on track. I like the details of the CHC plans, but they are lacking in Literature, Picture and Music study, History, and Latin. That's what I try to add in with MA.

Reading -- Devotional Stories from CHC and books from MA lit read aloud list (we are just finishing The Secret Garden).

Religion -- We read and discuss a chapter of the Faith and Life text, then we do the next portion of the Religion Supplement included in the lesson plans, then we do the MA of reading a chapter of New Catholic Picture Bible and Life of our Lord for Children. This way we are thoroughly covering OT and NT, and right now Sacraments, which is fitting because she makes her First Confession in March.

Science -- we started the (MA) Burgess Bird book a few weeks ago. I am going to pick out some stories from Catholic Stories from Science to go along with this book.

Social Studies -- We read and narrate This Country of Ours and The Catholic Faith Comes to America (both MA). Then we will do the CHC Tour of the Continents resource. This way she is getting a good overview of earth in general and United States beginnings. And we use the map skills of CHC - she loves those. Oh, and we also read a chapter of The Story of The World, too, which is not on either list but we really like the book!

I hope this explains it! PM me if you need more details!
