Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have just been re-reading my Emmanuel Bookscatalog which I love to use to plan our living reading for the year.

What favourite catalogs do you have?

I love the book suggestions from WinterPromise. They're reading lists can mesh well with the scope & sequence of both CHC and Seton, if one is just looking for supplements. They have great suggestions for resources for hands-on activities as well.

I had a Chinaberry catalog once that I read to rags.

I'd never heard of this company before -- but there website is lovely and looks like it has some great stuff. Thanks for mentioning Winter Promise: Literature Activities Memories

For me, its still Sonlight - I love their book suggestions, for the most part...And I also check the booklists in Real Learning, DYOCC and TWTM, too - I know they are not catalogues but still helpful for me.

Sacred Heart Books and Gifts carries nearly every book that Elizabeth and I have ever recommended, and Cay's books, too, last I checked. The proprietress, Linda Nelson, is delightful, and very helpful.

Linda is wonderful -- I met her at the Denver conference last year. And she carries my book which is always nice to see!

I have to "third" Linda. She is a jewel.
I've worked with her on my Lit Alive! book and the Mosaic. She's the one who asked me to come speak in Kansas City this summer.

You will be doing the world of Catholic publishing a huge favor in supporting this wonderful lady and her apostolate.

I have often wondered about her and Sacred Heart Books; seems like I come across referrals for her from Homeschoolers all the time.

A lot of great ones have already been mentioned, but I'l add Dawn Publications
for BEAUTIFUL picture books with Nature Study themes. Some can be a little New Age or with the "Bad People vs. Good Nature" bias, but we have found some real treasures here. The illustrations are simply gorgeous.

Yes, Linda Nelson at Sacred Heart Books is wonderful. She has been giving me advice on books for several years, and it was through her that I arrived at this forum. And you can be sure that if she does not have a book, she will try to find it for you.

I love Common Reader. Reading the reviews is almost as much fun as reading the books (tho it's on the pc side...but still eminently readable!) More for adults and teens, I've found lots of good "living history" books that have interested my big kids, as well books on or about nature that have captured our imagination. Not Catholic, but worth checking out.

I loved A Common Reader, too, but they went out of business last year.
