Anyone heard of or used this? I think it is fairly new. Someone locally mentioned seeing it at the IHM Conference. It's basically memory work all planned out for you and a CD to play it for you. They also have timeline cards.
Classically Catholic Memory
It looks kind of interesting and easy to use.

Yes, that's it. Not sure why that didn't work. It does look interesting, though sample pages to see would be nice. It shows what is covered in a year and I thought you could just match up your other books with the years topics. Thinking of getting Beta since it covers the Middle Ages and that is where we are this year.

Hmm, this does look tempting. I think I like the idea that everything is right there, already organized. I would be assured that the memory work is getting done and not have to worry about organizing it myself. I could even use some of it for copywork I bet ...

It looks fabulous, but I wish I could buy the subjects individually. Next semester we are doing the Renaissance and anatomy and physiology, but ther former is part of Classically Catholic's gamma level while the latter is part of delta.

Has anyone decided to get this? I was reminded of it in this thread and now I'm thinking it might be the way to go. I really struggle with having the discipline to go over memory work with my kids. I wonder if something like this would make that easier?

Ok, so I am trying it...
The idea of having it all there planned out with minimal prep from me was too enticing. Copywork already there, memorization selections chosen, and history/science springboards for rabbit trails were certainly selling points. The Beta year matched up with a lot of what I wanted to do anyway.
The books are high quality books. I am very impressed! The pictures are wonderful! I would go with one teacher book and a shared student book, and you could probably do the entire "year" on that small up front cost. I am not sure whether or not the audio is necessary as it seems to be just a person reading or singing the week's work. The timeline cards are nice as well, but for the price, I'm not sure how necessary they are. I'll have to see as we go along if either was worth the investment. We'll be starting in August, so we'll see...

Thanks Christine. I was wondering about the CD. When you say singing the week's work ... do you think that would help a child to memorize it? Are the songs different for each lesson / subject?
I'm also wondering what age range the program would suit. It looks like upper elementary from the samples? I'm mostly thinking about my dd who will be in 7th next year, but it would be great if I could include my son in 5th as well.

Thank-you for this link. This may be just what we've been looking for. It does look very interesting - and I agree that having it all laid out and with a Catholic focus is very compelling.
I've been trying to research ways to help my daughter improve her "working memory". She has great difficulty with word recall. From what I've read, the best non-medical way to improve is by memorization itself, as well as using as many senses as possible when memorizing. I like that this has the CDs to accompany the work - this way the audio will enhance the visual.
I see that the site says that the work will take approximately 2 hours. Christine, Do you find this to be accurate?

I saw this too. I also noticed that it said their "year" is 18 weeks so they recommend taking two weeks per "lesson" for a total of 36 weeks.
I'm wondering if it's possible to devote 30 minutes a day to memory work instead of the 2 hours per 2 week period. Two hours in one day seems like a long time to devote to memory work, but maybe I'm not clear on what they mean.

Like Becky, I plan on the 15 - 30 minutes (sometimes split into 5 minutes here, 5 there for a total of 15 - 30 minutes) a day rather than a chunk of time each week. I also plan to take 2 weeks per "week" in the book, especially in the beginning. I was thinking of doing some of the added activities, such as going into more depth in the science memorization topic and/or adding readings related to the history memorization for each week...this would add time to that 15-30 minutes, but is that counted toward memorization work or science and history 
Regarding the CD, I would say some kids will be helped by it and some will be turned off by it (I have a ds that won't like it, he doesn't like to listen to others recite his work). Some of the audio is just recitation of the work. Other of the audio is singing, which is songs to be memorized, history sentences put to a familiar tune, or skip counting put to a familiar tune. It's all solo with no instruments, from what I've heard. Like I said, some kids like that, some don't.
CLARIFICATION ON THE CD: If you don't buy the CD, there's no mention in the Teacher Book as to what song the words/numbers could be sung to, so you're just memorizing a paragraph or list.
Oh, and the age range...the book says it's for children ages 5-12. I would say grades K-8...adding more meat for olders and taking away some for youngers.

I wrote to the creator a few weeks ago, and she said she has used with her younger elementary children. I asked about my K and 2nd graders and she said it was a fine age for it. Of course, we could shorten things. Still deciding on this. So glad to see a thread!

That's what I thought when I saw it. I purchased Living Memory, which can be tailored to whatever you are studying. The Well-Trained Mind also has some helpful ideas for memory work. I use index cards on a ring and fill them with the memory work that pertains to the lessons we are doing. I think that this makes more sense than just to memorize random facts.

"Living Memory" has the following sections: Latin, Greek, Arithmetic and Mathematics, Grammar and Composition, Literature, Religion, Geography, World History, United States History and Civics, and Natural Sciences.
My son just recently finished our studies of Ancient Rome. During his studies he worked on memorizing "The Seven Hills of Rome," dates from the Ancient History section, and some of the Roman rulers. My daughter has been studying botany and has been memorizing parts of a plant and parts of a flower. I only assign memorization of topics we have studied.
The religion sections are "drawn from the Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant traditions, most of them, I believe, acceptable to the overwhelming majority of Christians. . . . The Bible translation used here is the King James, chosen for its literary resonances in English. . . . Catholics who are concerned about using a translation not approved by the Church may substitute the Douay-Rheims, which uses similarly elevated diction." (quote from the book). The author also suggests some other Bible translations if you wish to do so.
Living Memory is a big book, 452 pages. We will never be able to study everything in it, but it gives us good examples what to choose as memory work for all the different subjects. Andrew Campbell, the author, suggests creating a memory work binder, but so far I'm using flash cards on a ring (mine are the size of regular index cards).
Since the book is so flexible, you as the parent are really in charge of what and how much you want to assign for memory work. There are also some mnemonics in there.
It's not a fancy book, but full of great selections at a great price.

Just coming back to say I ordered classically catholic memory (sorry I didn't capitalize the title - the c on my keyboard doesn't work if I try to capitalize it!!  )
Anyway, I wanted to say I am just really impressed with the quality of the materials. I've only had time to do a quick read through so far, but I think my "splurge" on this was worth it.
