Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just bought Kolbe's chemistry syllabus and book for my 12 grader. I am blown away by the pace this syllabus goes. I had at first thought to have ds do the honors pace, even though we are not enrolled with Kolbe. But I am adding real labs, using the book Theresa (lapazfarm)has on her website, instead of the virtual labs they recommend (I don't think high school courses should have only virtual labs).

Now I'm wishing I had not wasted the money on the syllabus b/c it looks like I'm going to be totally rewriting our schedule anyway. Even the "normal" pace seems a lot to me, with all the assessment questions and online assessment, etc.

I had been considering enrolling my 2 younger kids with Kolbe when they get to high school age, but this is giving me pause. Is all Kolbe's work like this? Ds previously did Apologia's biology, finished the entire book and all the labs, including dissection. but I still felt it wasn't up to the same caliber I remember from high school, which is why I am trying the prentice hall book for chemistry. are we just slackers???
