Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What if you applied the stations of the cross pictures to the votives???

I'd love to try this, just had the idea, and haven't tried it out but in the interest of sharing the idea before the board closes up tomorrow couldn't you print off some pictures of the stations and size them to fit the candles? I'd probably do B&W as I don't have a color printer and I like the idea of the starkness anyhow. Then I'd grab my big roll of clear packing tape and wrap the picture to the votive, I don't have any liquid glue handy and I do try to use what I have available.

ETA: B&W Images of the Stations of the Cross

I like that idea...but I'm worried a little of the tape handling the heat?

I pasted the pictures with a glue stick. I don't know how it will work out, but it looks beautiful

Thanks for the idea.

During the break, we made the stations of the Cross votive candles as well. Unfortunately, I bought glass votives which were too round. But, I plowed ahead and mod podged the pictures to the outside of the round glass.

Although a little wrinkly, they look lovely lit.

Another suggestion (very easy!) that I just heard for making a candle Stations of the Cross set is to use tea lights in a muffin tin. You would end with the Station where Jesus dies on the cross so would only need 12 candles thus making the muffin tin work well. Mary Reed Newland's version just uses the 12 candles.

Annie and Helen, your versions are lovely!

I'm having way too much fun today catching up on everything I missed while sailing! Can you imagine if the boards hadn't been closed???

It's taken me a while to get pictures etc.. but I posted on my blog our version of Stations of the Cross with the kids. We use tea lights and and a tiny liquer glass for a snuffer

I found one of those photo divider things that were so popular and the 8x10 pictures of the stations fit perfectly !

I've posted at your site, too - but this is beautiful. It's so striking!
