Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just found an excellent resource for the Liturgy of the Hours. Please go to http://www.liturgyhours.org/. Click on the link to "Group Prayer--Booklets." Then choose "5/29/05, Solemnity--Body and Blood of Christ." Select "Evening Prayer" and you will have a printable booklet with prayers virtually identical to what is in my book. It solves the problem of needing more than one copy for each member of the family.

Stef, I know you've ordered "Evening Prayerbook," but this might be a suitable replacement if it isn't too late. You will also be able to sample the evening holy hour on the Feast of Corpus Christi.

ENSALADA DE CORPUS CHRISTI - (Corpus Christi Salad)

This looks incredibly good. We are going to a friend's house tomorrow afternoon. I may try to bring this salad (or perhaps a modified version of it). Thanks so much!

Boo Hoo! It drizzled and was chilly all afternoon, so we took our umbrellas and coats but alas...Fr. had decided to move the procession indoors and only the servers and KofC and 1st communicants processed. What a blessing we have in this feast though! It will surely continue to grow here in the U.S.

Alice, I've bookmarked the Liturgy of the Hours site. It's like a dream! Ideally every social gathering of Catholics should begin or end with Evening or night prayer (if it's in the afternoon or evening). The ability to print out these booklets makes that much, much easier.

Happy Feast of Corpus Christi,
Gwen in Denver

Gwen, I am so sorry you had bad weather. It sounds similar to my daughter's First Communion day three weeks ago--cloudy, chilly and unpleasant to be outdoors!

We had a lovely Feast of Corpus Christi today. The pastor gave an excellent homily on reverence for the Eucharist and our need to reclaim "Catholic culture." It was a beautiful, clear day, so the children processed outside and later gathered around the priest as he gave the crowd a blessing. This was followed by coffee and donuts in the parish room. Some faithful soul had decorated each table with a pictures of the Sacred Heart and fresh garden flowers for everyone to take home.

About an hour or so later, my four oldest girls and I went back to the chapel to spend some time before the Blessed Sacrament (there was exposition until 5 pm). The 12:30 Mass was going on next door in the church, so the chapel was completely empty. We said the Divine Mercy Chaplet aloud together. The girls were so reverent--even my five year old participated. We concluded by singing four verses of Tantum Ergo Sacramentum. It was just lovely.

We were invited to a friend's for the afternoon, but when we came home we ended our day with the Liturgy of the Hours Evening Prayer and a Rosary. I couldn't believe the girls wanted to join us for those prayers, because it was late, and they were exhausted, but they remained until the last "Amen."

All in all, I would say it was the best Feast of Corpus Christi we have ever had. They especially loved the time spent before the Blessed Sacrament and suggested that we do that "every Sunday." Unfortunately, our parish usually doesn't have exposition on Sundays, but I promised we would attend in a few days for First Friday.

Stef, I did not make the Corpus Christi salad, but you may be sure I will attempt it one of these days!

Happy Feast, everyone! Now, what shall we do for the Feast of the Sacred Heart ?

I thought you might like to read an article I found at Spirit Daily. It is the personal account of a woman who saw Pope Benedict on the Feast of Corpus Christi: Link.

Thank you for posting the link. It was so moving to read her account of Corpus Christi. I loved how she said her roots from childhood had been watered. Isn't it amazing how the simple and humble can have such an impression on people? I love Pope Benedict XVI. May God bless him today and always!
