Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was going to post this several days ago and totally forgot.    Today is the first Sunday to begin the devotion of Seven Sundays to Honor the 7 Sorrows and Joys of St. Joseph if you want to finish on the Sunday prior to his feast day (which is the traditional way and this year falls on Sun. 3/18).

Briefly, the Seven Sorrows and Joys are:

The doubt of Saint Joseph (Matthew 1:19) and the Message of the Angel (Matthew 1:20)

The poverty of Jesus' birth (Luke 2:7) and the Birth itself (Luke 2:7)

The Circumcision (Luke 2:21) and the Holy Name of Jesus (Matthew 1:25)

The prophecy of Simeon that many would be lost (Luke 2:34) and his prophecy that many would rise (Luke 2:34)

The flight into Egypt (Matthew 2:14) and the Overthrow of idols (Isaias 19:1

The return from Egypt (Matthew 2:22) and Life with Mary and Jesus (Luke 2:39)

The loss of the Child Jesus (Luke 2:45) and Finding Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2:46)

You can meditate on one each Sunday and pray an Our Father/Hail Mary/GLory Be and the closing prayer found in the Catholic Culture link above OR contemplate
a more detailed meditation along with your prayers.

Also, offer 7 Holy Communions, which of course since you're doing 7 Sundays, will be a given (this devotion can also be practiced on 7 weekdays or Sundays at any other time of the year if you desire).

It's a beautiful prayer. One might ask for extraordinary graces for dh, purity for sons, a needed job or a marriage, etc. I'll try my hardest to remember to post a reminder each week.

Thanks Gwen, I have never heard of that devotion on the 7 Sundays leading to his feast, but I love this!

I am looking at this Monday morning and heading off to Mass now, I sure St Joseph will understand that this first "Sunday" will be a Monday.

Oh, this is so beautiful. Thank you so much for posting this information for us. I've grown much closer to St. Joseph this year and really appreciate knowing about this devotion.

You're a real blessing, Gwen.

Oops I forgot again. I'll try to put up a reminder earlier next week.

St. Joseph's 2nd Sorrow and Joy...The poverty of Jesus' birth (Luke 2:7) and the Birth itself (Luke 2:7)

Would that I could persuade all men to be devoted to this glorious Saint, for I know by long experience what blessings he can obtain for us from God. I have never known anyone who was truly devoted to him and honored him by particular services who did not advance greatly in virtue: for he helps in a special way those souls who commend themselves to him. It is now very many years since I began asking him for something on his feast, and I have always received it. If the petition was in any way amiss, he rectified it for my greater good...I ask for the love of God that he who does not believe me will make the trial for himself--then he will find out by experience the great good that results from commending oneself to this glorious Patriarch and in being devoted to him....
St. Theresa of Avila--Autobiography, VI, 11-12 (Favorite Prayers to St. Joseph)
