Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was absolved. Then I asked if this is where I said my Act of Contrition.

Confession is truly speaking directly to the Lord through the ministry of the priest. When the priest gives you absolution, you received the Lord's direct and personal touch of forgiveness.

If for some reason, you didn't have a chance to say the act of Contrition during the Confession, say it afterwards without any worry or apprehension.

When we say
I'm sorry I did XYZ, you are expressing contrition.

Thank you for this. I have experienced a few things not only with this priest, but another one that have made me wonder about the validity of some sacraments I have received. I do need to remember it is the "Lord's direct and personal touch"

Thank you.

Helen is certainly right - it's still a valid confession. Though I was told that it's technically illict since it doesn't follow the proper form. Sadly I think many of us have experienced such things in regards to various sacraments. I know we have.

God bless!

I'm bumping this favorite because it had an impact on how I pray the Act of Contrition that I carry with me to this day .

Love,
