Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

There are so many beautiful ways to pray! Share your favorite with us.

I've tried writing an icon, and it was a very enjoyable and refreshing way to pray, even though my icon probably isn't wall-worthy.

The giveaways for this poll are:

A rosary

A handmade calligraphy prayer card

The Psalms(New International Version)

Remember, you must vote AND comment to be eligible for the giveaways!

This was a tough one, Nan!

I pray the rosary daily, but I don't always do a good job with it, YK?
Sometimes I am rushed, or I lose count of where I am and just wind up saying gobs of Hail Marys and hoping for the best .

I have found in the past couple of years that I really an enjoying reading the Bible and learning more about the context and history. Plus I love that every time I read it, even familiar passages, there is something new waiting for me there. It really is an instruction book for life!

Cassie, I'm not sure why...and it looks like two people have voted. I didn't vote, so that leaves you and Melinda.

At least until the poll is fixed, let's agree that anyone who comments on the poll about their favorite way to pray is entered into the drawing. If the poll can be fixed before Mardi Gras, great, but I don't want to leave anyone out.

So...make a comment and you're in!

Hmmm...I love adoration, just sitting or kneeling with Christ right there...unfortunately I have to have the kids with me when I go for my scheduled hour 99% of the time, and with an 18-month-old there isn't a lot of the quiet alone time I crave. I figure I must get points for having hauled everyone there though.

I also enjoy formal prayer as it helps to have a format for prayer during the day--the reminder goes off, and we all know what to expect/do. There is the danger of being unfocused or too formulaic about prayer at these times, but at least it happens.

I enjoy contemplative prayer but it just hasn't been happening here.

Right now, formal prayer suits my state in life the best. I love contemplative prayer but ... not happening unless I get up early or stay up late.

Eucharistic Adoration is tops for me.....pure peace. Next, I like a prayer group.

The liturgical / formal prayers are a huge help for me. I do got to Adoration occasionally, but I usually end up reading a spiritual text and reflecting upon it during the hour.

Reading Scripture and reflecting on it and also formal prayers such as the Liturgy of the Hours.

I am the other vote - problem started after me. I "broke" the poll . Though I think I was actually the first to vote.
