Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi,

I am totally new to the concept of notebooking. I am gathering that it can be kind of as elaborate as scrapbooking, or quite simple also. Can anyone with experience recommend how to start notebooking? Are there any resources, or maybe even kits, to get a feel for it?

Thanks for any help,
~Laura in AZ

I like to notebook. And you are right-there is a whole range of notebook styles. I rarely plan notebooks ahead, but kind of let them evolve depending on what dc produce on a given topic. So all our notebooks look diferent. Our religion notebook so far is just a 3 ring binder w/page protectors, while our unit-study notebooks tend to be more elaborate, like lapbooks in a notebook with flaps, pockets, and mini-books.
Here are a couple of resources I've found useful in the past, but then again, we have really just gone our own way.

Also, look into all the lapbooking threads to find ideas for your notebooks as well.

My old blog at blogspot Lapazfarm Home Learning has some pictures of my son's notebooks in the archives for January 2006 and October 2005.
I don't know of any kits, however this site
History Portfolio Curriculum
is about as close as you will get to a ready-to-fill-in notebook.
Have fun!

Hi Laura,

When I first started lapbooking, I purchased an instructional DVD from Tobin's Lab titled, Tammy Teaches Lap Books. I also own the Ultimate Lap Book Handbook. Both resources have been very helpful in getting us started.
